Regina trip is feeling a lot more wintery this time around! A bunch of fresh malt headed south. HoneyB malt to @rebbrewregina , Pilsner to @pileobonesbrews and Premium Pale, Pilsner and Oats to @maltynational . With all the talk about supply chains this is about as direct and uncomplicated as exists! Grower/maltster direct to brewer. Thanks all for buying local craft malt!

This picture is NOT from 2021. Statistics Canada just released updated 2021 barley production at the the lowest output in more than 50 years. It's the first time we've dipped below 7 million tonnes since 1967.

Got a random phone call from @ntiessen who was hosting a tasting of our summer series project for the @aodbtarchitecture crew. Looked like the perfect venue for it alongside food from @theprairiegrazer. Love the chance to connect people to these barley varietals born and bred right in their backyard. Check out one of these barrel aged beauties @shelterbrewing and help them celebrate their 3rd anniversary this weekend! I remember the struggle to open with permitting and Reno's was real and reminiscent to us at Maker's as we were just a year ahead of them in start-up mode. Congrats on a job well done over your first 3 and thanks for being a great customer of local craft malt!

Let's Go Chiefs! Volume up!!!

We're getting our feet wet with new product creation in collaboration with the fantastic boutique millers @nunweilersflour Here's a couple of interesting non-diastatic malt flours. These are milled using our locally grown and craft malted barley. The Vienna has a classic malty/ bready sweetness while the Caramel 60 hits with robust caramel and toffee. If you'd like to give something a try get in touch, we're working up which flavour profiles to commercialize.

Beautiful looking new beer from Malty. Love working with these guys and since we are heading up to Regina with 70 more bags of home grown and craft malted barley today, I get to pick some up! Repost from @maltynational New beer day! "Post Modern" pilsner is available in cans at the brewery. A little German a little Swiss and a lot Rosthern SK. Southwest Sask! Delivered more of our malt house signature, Vienna malt to @blackbridgebeer then routed through Cypress Hills and finally hit up @rafterrbrewing for a delivery for the first time since it opened up...doing a killer job! Lots of malt forward beers and a couple of killer dark beers. The Oatmeal stout and the Chocolate strong collab (BlackBridge and Rafter) were standout! Picking up a beautiful note of our proprietary Maker’s Midnight! Finally new businesses @shaunavonliquor doing a great job hosting local craft beer and spirits and @standardshaunavon fixing up the delivery vehicle in a jiffy! Grand opening of @betterbrotherbrewingco Brave SOB’s opening up in 2020!!!Great decor and tunes, afternoon vibe is fantastic! Did the flight- west coast and stout are early favourites. Malt comes through nicely in a balanced Pale Ale as well! Great job Jeff and crew! #drinklocal

Batch 104 bagged and ready to roll out. I’m loving our new crop barley from our No-Nitrogen trial. It is killing it statistically and I think the flavour is the best we’ve had. It’s also very sustainable to minimize Nitrogen and volatilization and works alongside our no-till practices to maximize soil conservation. Another little known fact is that alongside a few of our brewing partners we reuse as many 25 kg bags as we can. It’s a bit of extra work, but saves 100’s of... perfectly good bags from hitting the landfill. Whenever you see a bag with multiple batch numbers, it’s been brought back in good shape and reused. Pro Tip the highest batch # is the current one... Thankful this year to have the opportunity to work in food production, to have indoor and outdoor space in which to play and be productive, for family/friends and FaceTime! @ Maker's Malt

Batch 104 clean-out today. Loving our new crop barley, no-nitrogen Low Protein barley! For those who know/use friability this batch was 93.5%! Did some comparative hot steeps today and sensory is killing it on the new crop as well. Beauty color and taste. Saturday also had a couple of fun surprises including the big fella in pic #2 and a special delivery from @frazzledpenguin . Would you give us the malt bill?? Looking forward to trying this beer out! @ Maker's Malt
