Hello Beautiful Sointula! Over the next few weeks, many of us will be increasing our time spent at home. If you have children it can be hard to find things to d...o all day and not lose your mind. I saw this on line and thought it would be a great way for our community to still get outside and do something fun, without touching or coughing or even contact with each other. BUT, we are going to add some prizes to it!!! We are going to have a Heart Hunt! All you have to do is put a heart in your window! That’s it! Color it, paint it, cut it out, print it from the printer, big small whatever. Then we can get outside, walk, bike, have your parents drive you around and see how many hearts we can find! Now here is the twist! Whoever finds the most hearts gets a treat from Coho Joes!! You can pick up your treat through their pick up window . Heart searching is Saturday & Sunday, get your heart in the window for Saturday please. Private message me Monday night and let me know how many hearts you found. Post a picture of your favourite heart here and you never know there may be a prize for the best heart It’s easy. No human contact. Get fresh air. Don’t buy toilet paper. Just put a heart in your window Stay tuned for more fun stuff we can do as a community with our children without contact (colouring contest, scavenger hunt and much more!)

Bookbinding Retreat coming soon! September 24th- September 30th. Bookbinding and Monoprinting Workshop October 1, 2, 3 These are - 2.5 hour workshops. Registra...tion and payment deadline: Sept. 16th. Scroll down for more info. It's almost time for the bookbinding retreat! Winnipeg artists Sue Gordon and Debra Frances will be arriving soon for the September 24th retreat. There is 1 spot left for this retreat. This will be 5 days of learning ecodying, printing & bookbinding and exploring Malcolm Island. Sue will be making fabulous food and we will show you our favourite spots on the island. See www.debrafrances.com for more info. or call Robin @ 250 230 6722. Bookbinding and Monoprinting Workshop- October 1,2,3 - take 1 or take them all. $95 each + tax. October 1: Sue Gordon will teach us monoprinting techniques. Participants can make a number of 5x7 mono prints and explore colour, composition and various techniques for using the gelatin plate. The use of cold wax will also be demonstrated as well as altered book pages to use in collage or book arts. This will be a fun time of exploration and creativity for all. No artistic experience needed! October 2 : Debra Frances will teach bookbinding. In this workshop we will be exploring pamphlets and booklets. The pamphlet stitch is one of the simplest sewn bindings, but, with small modifications to the materials and structure, there are endless ways to modify the binding to create unique books. Using mono prints made in the previous day’s workshop and/or St. Armand handmade paper we will create several books. No experience is necessary and all supplies and tools are included. If you have favourite tools of your own feel free to bring those (awl, bone folder, scalpel or blade). You may also bring along any pages you might want to incorporate into your books. October 3 : you will be creating your own unique 3 1/2 x 5 leather journal using the long stitch link stitch binding method. This style of binding allows for all the pages to lay completely flat, ideal for writing, drawing or displaying images. Hand sewn construction makes it easy to remove old pages and add new ones, so you can refresh and renew your journal’s content. Mono prints can be used as cover pages or interspersed throughout. All supplies and tools are included but you are welcome to bring along any favourite tools you may already own. Each workshop is $95 + tax. This can be paid by credit card or email transfer and must be paid by September 16th. Sue and Debra will be bringing supplies with them from Manitoba and need to know how many people will be coming. Call Robin at 250 230 6722 for more information. If you are coming from out of town call Robin for hotel room information and prices.
