THYROID GLAND If you know about metabolism you probably know how important your thyroid is. Beyond it’s metabolic functions, the thyroid gland releases hormones that increases heart rate and how forcefully the heart squeezes, it affects how fast food moves through your gut, bone loss, and how fast sugar is made and used up in the body . If your thyroid gland isn‘t producing enough of its hormones, you experience a slew of symptoms such as anxiety, hair loss, menstrual prob...lems, tiredness, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, trouble sleeping, and joint/muscle pain...yuck . Interestingly enough, the most prescribed drug in Canada is a pill for an underactive thyroid . So why? People aren't feeling well, and thyroid function tests are widely available and easy to check and the symptoms are non-specific . Normally, the brain detects when the thyroid is dysfunctional and compensates by stimulating it more, but when you take synthetic hormones, the brain may think the body is doing its job and stops trying to make more, causing it to slow the production of the hormones even more . See how this is not solving the problem of an underactive thyroid? Well guess what, there are other options than pills for hormonal issues . Your Osteopathic Manual Practitioner is trained to assess the structural housing around your thyroid gland. We assess the blood supply and drainage in and out of the organ, which affects its ability to release its hormones into the blood. We do this by assessing tissue= the fascia, the muscles and the joints surrounding this glorious organ. . If your neck is off alignment, if your clavicle is compressed, if your muscles are tight, it could compensate the thyroid gland. So, if your thyroid gland isn’t doing it’s job, go see your OMP and see what’s going on structurally. Wouldn’t you love if your body could regulate on its own without pharmaceuticals . {PS if you’re already taking thyroid meds NEVER take yourself off without consulting your physician first, never be your own pharmacist, discuss with your doc before you make any med changes} . Swipe to see the anatomy relations of your neck and the thyroid gland . #osteopathy @ Mend Osteopathy See more

Not only is a referral a huge compliment as a Practitioner, but it’s a big part of how small businesses grow . When you share with a friend or family member your experience, not just about treatment with me, but for Osteopathy as a whole, you are promoting what it means to find health. Which if you’ve experienced Osteopathic care, you know that’s the primary goal of treatment. . It is the object of the physician to find health, anyone can find disease. A.T. Still... . Your referrals are more than just a compliment, it means you trust us with the care of your loved ones, and you want to share what Osteopathy can do for them, so THANK YOU, from one small business owner to all of you, we couldn’t do this with out you . . . #osteopathy #ldot #osteopath #classicalosteopathy #manualtherapy #londonont #mend #heal #rehabilitate See more
