The days are long but the years are short. I look at this little 13-month old but I see a toddler. A rambunctious, silly, cuddly girl with a big personality. I can’t believe a year ago she was just swaddled in my arms. Time is wild.

Ask me how I feel about today and I’ll tell you I’m grateful for my girlstheir beauty and energy and fire and good health. Grateful for the incredible females in my family and friends who are like family. And the amazing women who have come before me, the ones Bryan and I mention in our Shabbat prayers while we bless our daughters. But do I feel like celebrating? No. Not really. I’m exhausted. Being a woman is exhausting and the pandemic has really solidified what we’ve all... known to be truefirstly, women are always working the double shift. We are so often undervalued, underpaid and underrepresented. The invisible labor that still happens in the contemporary world cannot be denied. I am exhausted, and that says a lot because I’m so lucky! I’m beyond blessed. I have a great job. A beautiful home. I have a partner who is such a dedicated father. He fills out school paperwork, he takes kids to appointments, he meal plans, cooks, changes diapers and the whole nine yards. And yet I still find myself feeling so burnt out. Women are disproportionately in poverty, more likely to work low wage jobs and struggling through an ongoing childcare crisis that pushes them out of the workforce. Friends, many of us are the lucky ones. Today it’s wonderful to celebrate women and to spend time thinking about the women who inspire you, but let’s not forget that we still deserve better. We need hurry up the movement that brings us to a better place so our daughters experience true gender equality. See more

I’ve been back at work for a little while now but haven’t figured out how to stop wearing @lululemon. It feels like my senior year of high school all over again! M Toronto is still in lockdown, so motivation to wear stiff work clothes is low and fabrics are pretty hard to distinguish over zoom, so this is my every-day-of-the-week attire.

All we do is work, play with the kids, eat and drink. I’d say sleep but it would be a lie because Orly doesn’t believe in sleeping for more than two hours at a time. Saturdays used to be date night order-in and now they’re for ordering in all day Choose your own adventure, amiright? Breakfast was @pilotcoffee afternoon snacks are from @bar_raval and dinner when the girls are asleep will be @namirestaurant. So thankful we have the means to treat ourselves. This year has been a dumpster fire in many ways, but it’s hard to trash talk the whole yearafter all, it did bring us this incredible ray of sunshine! But mostly everything else was I love you all. I used to be so good at texting or calling loved ones to wish them a happy holiday and a happy new year, but honestly this year has literally sucked every ounce of energy out of me and now I am doing this blanket post to tell you I miss you and I am so hopeful 2021 brings us together again, safely. xo
