What’s the big deal with water anyway? Water is essential for your health. It makes up a majority of your body weight. Drinking enough water daily helps: Prevent constipation... With digestion Absorb nutrients With weight loss Boost energy Helps maximise physical performance Improve blood oxygen circulation Improve mood Improve brain function Keep skin healthy So how much water is necessary? On average about 3-4 litres a day and maybe more if you are very active. If you’re not accustomed to drinking a lot of water, start with a minimum of half your body weight in ounces and build from there. It’s harder to stay consistent when you don’t have your regular routine and many of us just forget to drink. Try carrying a bottle with you and keep track of how much you’re drinking. Transformation can start with just a walk. Even though fitness centers are closed, you can still begin your transformation journey just by walking. Walking is great for everyone. You don’t need any experience with exercise. And you don’t need to be fit to start. Start small. Walk for just 15 minutes a day. And then build from there.... Walking is free and easy and it has so many benefits: Builds cardiovascular fitness Strengthens your heart Reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke Helps lower blood sugar Boosts immune function Protects your joints Reduces arthritis pain Increases your mood Boosts energy Clears your mind Burns calories My family and I have been doing a lot more walking and it feels good to be out in the beautiful outdoors. Really does clear your mind. In case it is not safe to walk outside due to bad weather, then try marching or jogging in place while watching TV. Walking builds the foundation for heathy habits.

Greens with tomato and feta For this I used dandelion greens but you can use spinach or Swiss chard. Recipe... Boil greens for about 5-7 minutes. And drain. In a skillet cook onions and garlic in olive oil for about 5 minutes. Then add 2 tablespoons tomate paste. Throw in cooked greens, salt, pepper and cayenne and cook for another 10 min. Add crumbled feta right at the end and a splash of olive oil. #healthylifestyle #healthyfood #healthyrecipes

Training. Is. A. Lifeforce. It gives us strength, energy, vitality and breathes life into our souls. We need the fitness industry but gyms can’t stay open. So we must find a way to train, and to move. We will not allow this lockdown to get the best of us. Wear your mask, keep good hygiene and get up, get out and move. We are all facing one of the biggest battles right now. A pandemic and a lockdown. Stress is high, anxiety is high and people are lonely. And despite all the ne...gativity, the fear and the uncertainty, we will get through this but we need to get our minds right and we need to stay focused on our health. This isolation from friends and family is hard. For some it’s a huge fight. For others it’s like pushing through a concrete wall every step of the way, but we must keep an active routine. Now is not the time to give up, to sit still and do nothing at all. It’s important that we get out there and do something. Yes, it’s getting colder and it started to snow in some places. Great. Pick up a winter sport or continue to exercise in your home. Nutrition! I can’t stress enough how important nutrition is right now. We must keep our body fat down and our immune system strong. This disease hits harder if you are obese, and unhealthy. So it’s imperative to clean up your nutrition. Eat more quality protein, veggies, and cut sugars, pastries, fast food, and cut or reduce your alcohol intake. My passion and purpose have always been to help others live a healthy lifestyle. And I continue to want to help others to live healthy and keep active so that we can all get through this crisis. I can’t do this in a gym or face to face right now but I can still help you right here. So today I’m giving you a 30-day challenge, that will run from Nov 24 until Dec 24. Are you up for the challenge? In this challenge there are 3 sub challenges: Challenge #1 Move for 30 minutes every day. You can move outside (walk, hike, ski, skate, snowshoe) Or workout inside your home (stationary bike, jumping jacks, squats, push ups, jump squats, mountain climbers, lunges, yoga, dance, stretch) Whatever you can do, just move. Challenge #2 Eat clean. Remove sugar, unhealthy carbs (breads, pasta, pastries) and fast foods from your diet. Reduce alcohol. Incorporate more veggies, proteins (lean meats, eggs, legumes, fish, seafood, quality protein shakes) and healthy fats. Challenge #3 Hydrate. Drink at least 3 litres of water everyday At the end of the 30 days you will feel better, you will have lowered your body fat and you will have hopefully incorporated these new healthy habits into your daily routine. Through these dark times, I will be your lighthouse but you need to promise that you will continue to fight hard and focus on your health and well-being. And together we will rise from this. Do you know why most people give up or get discouraged before they even begin their weight loss and transformation journey? Because of what they see on social media. The unrealistic lifestyles and sometimes fake bodies that look almost too perfect to be true. Most overweight people can’t fathom the thought of what it would take to look like those people. They become overwhelmed with the thought of how long it would take and how much work must be involved, that they give up tr...ying to make any sort of change. So I’m here to remind you that your journey is yours. And you are not them. My advice to you is to start small. Focus on what you can do today and the next day. Know what your capabilities are and work from there. Focus on trying to make small changes everyday. Learn how to be consistent and know what works for you. Change happens by being consistent and by making healthy choices a lifestyle. Forget what others are doing. What others look like. Remember your goals, what you want and why you need to get healthy. Small changes over time lead to huge accomplishments. Don’t let the fake world around you dictate how you live your life. Don’t feel bad about yourself because you aren’t where others are. I promise you that if you start, you will fall in love with your journey because it’s yours. See more
