This weekend was supposed to be the 49th annual MSSS event. Unfortunately we are not able to host the event this year, but the MSSS committee has exciting news to share... Youth Science Canada is organizing the YSC Online STEM Fair, a showcase for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) projects that reflect the curiosity and creativity of Canadian youth. The online event will be live for the public to explore starting Tuesday, May 19. Developed by engineering....com, the site will feature STEM projects submitted by students in grades 7-12 looking to showcase their ideas and discoveries. The new online experience is expected to launch for project entries in Early May. We encourage all of our MSSS students to explore this opportunity when the site is officially launched. Visit our website to read the full statement: http://www.msss.mb.ca
A MESSAGE TO THE GRADE 12 STUDENTS MSSS extends an invitation to grade 12 students to provide a five page technical report on their project for review and consideration for a University of Manitoba entrance scholarship. Submissions must be received electronically by MSSS on or before May 15, 2020. More details can be found here: http://www.msss.mb.ca/2020-grade-12-submissions/... In addition all 2020 grade 12 students will be eligible to compete in the 2021 MSSS event.
We regret to inform our participants, schools, volunteers, sponsors, and community that the Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 MSSS due to COVID-19. This decision was made using the best information available from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Manitoba Health, and the University of Manitoba. We encourage all of our young scientists to continue their scientific investigations. Please continue to check the MSSS website (http://www.msss.mb.ca) and social media platforms for further updates and information.
The MSSS committee is currently monitoring the evolving situation as it relates to the COVID-19 virus. Any decision regarding hosting the event will be made based on the latest information available from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Manitoba Health, and the University of Manitoba. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
