Well the Crocuses are out!!! In case you didn’t know... They are poisonous... don’t eat! They are the first flower to bloom in Manitoba. The petals reflect sunlight toward the centre warming it as much as 10 degrees over the ambient temperature. The flower closes up each night to protect itself from the cold nights.... Manitoba recognized them as the provincial flower in 1906. They are a much needed source of nectar and pollen after winter for emerging insect pollinators. See more
