Manitoba Peace Officer Memorial Foundation 21.06.2021

Today was an important day. Today, the concrete was poured for the foundation of the combined Firefighters, Labour Workers and Police and Peace Officers Memorial. In honour of all who is represented by this memorial, I placed a combined Memorial Challenge Coin into the concrete as it was being poured. ... My heartfelt thanks goes out to all who have worked tirelessly to make this event happen, without your support and dedication this monument would not have happened.

Hey everyone, I need your help. Early next week I should have the raffle tickets for the Combined Firefighters, Labour Workers and Police and Peace Officer Memorial. 100% of the proceeds from these ticket sales will go towards the Police and Peace Officers side of the construction costs of the memorial. The draw will take place on August 28th, and features a first prize of $500 cash, second prize of $250 cash and a third prize of $100 cash, with each ticket costing $2.... I desperately need motivated people who would be willing to help me sell the tickets and of course people who would want to buy them. Please message me if you are able to help sell the tickets. I will personally offer a prize of some sort for the person who sells the most tickets. We are almost there with the construction, but need a little push to ensure we cross the finish line. Thank you!

Good morning everyone, the time is almost here when construction will begin on the combined Manitoba Firefighters, Manitoba Labour Workers and Manitoba Police and Peace Officers Memorial located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The journey has been long and fraught with many challenges, but I am proud that the work and dedication is about to come to fruition. The final push to close the gap on the financial costs of this memorial is why I am writing to you today. The Manitoba Police ...and Peace Officers side of the memorial has a financial gap of just over $20,000 to close before construction begins at the end of August. As such, there are two fundraising drives that I wish to bring to your attention. The first is a Commemorative Challenge coin currently in production that will be available in the beginning of August. This 4.45 cm Die Struck Challenge coin is 3mm thick and features a full colour photo of the memorial with a clear epoxy finish. The cost of the Commemorative Challenge Coin is $20, which includes free shipping and handling for orders within Canada and the proceeds from the sales of this coin will go directly to the construction costs of this memorial. For orders and information, please email me at [email protected] and I will get you on a waiting list for when they are available. The second fundraising venture will be a cash raffle draw, for which we are awaiting the permit from Manitoba Gaming. This raffle will feature a cash prize of $500 for first, $250 for second and $100 for third place. The cost will be $2.00 per ticket and all proceeds from the sales of these tickets will go directly to the construction costs of this memorial. If you wish to make a donation to the memorial, please do so via PayPal on our website, http://www.manitobapeaceofficermemorial.ca under the Donations tab. You will be issued a tax receipt if requested. Thank you all for your continued support for this very worthwhile cause. We are so close to completion and with this final push should make our goals. This memorial is dedicated to everyone in the Province of Manitoba. All of our lives have somehow been affected by the loss of someone in the performance of their duties. Please feel free to share this, email me or call me to discuss how you can help to bring this memorial together. Thank you.

I am proud to present this list of sponsors who have helped us immensely over the years to achieve our goal. Without them we never would have come this far.

Manitoba Peace Officer Memorial Foundation 08.04.2020

My name is William Whyte and I am a Correctional Officer with the Winnipeg Remand Centre, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba where I have proudly worn the uniform and served my community for over 21 years. During my time, I have served in a number of different positions, having operated in the role of Acting Correctional Supervisor at the Winnipeg Remand Centre, and as the Project Manager, Safety and Health Coordinator and Regulatory Compliance for Corrections Divisional Headquart...ers. I also serve proudly as the Captain of the Winnipeg Remand Centre Honour Guard and have helped in the development and deployment of other Honour Guards within the Province. Additionally, I have been an active member in union activity within our organization, currently holding the position of Vice-President for our local area. Helping others is ingrained in me. Early in my career I participated in an organization called the Correctional Officers Care for Kids acting as Vice-President and later President. This not-for-profit group helped to raise funds for the Children’s Wish Foundation of Manitoba, setting and exceeding a goal to raise $100,000 for children who have experienced trauma, tragedy, or are terminally ill. In early 2005, I became a founding member of the Manitoba Peace Officer Memorial Foundation with the simple goal of building and maintaining a permanent memorial to honour fallen Peace and Police Officers within the Province of Manitoba. Currently I hold the position of Vice-President within this organization. I am proud to announce that our goal is nearly complete. This Spring, 2018, will mark the beginning of construction towards the permanent memorial which will be in place for the September Peace and Police Officer Memorial Parade. I would like to extend my deepest thanks to all those who have helped us along the way to achieving this goal and look forward to continuing to serve in this capacity. We shall never forget. Good evening everyone, it is with great pleasure that I announce that it would appear we have met our fundraising goal and the memorial will proceed as planned! I will have more details over the next few days and would like to thank everyone who has been involved in this over the years. Thank you for your support!

These are the men and women of Law Enforcement for whom we dedicate this memorial. We Shall Never Forget.

Manitoba Peace Officer Memorial Foundation 25.02.2020

Hey everyone, I could use your help. As you may know, I have been involved in building a permanent memorial for fallen Peace and Police Officers here in Manitoba. We turn ground in the Spring of 2018 on this project which is where you come in. Between the Women’s Correctional Centre, Headingley Correctional Centre and the Winnipeg Remand Centre, we have raised just over $1,000 towards our goal of $17,000. To those I express my most heartfelt thanks. This is the amount neede...d from the $200,000 the memorial will cost. All of us knows someone connected to law enforcement. If you are a friend or family, please consider donating to this cause. If you are a member of the law enforcement community, I issue you a challenge: Talk to your friends, family, coworkers and loved ones about the role you play in our community. If you can, please donate to our cause. It is the names of our brothers and sisters that appear on this memorial, those of us who have made the ultimate sacrifice serving our communities. This is especially true of the members of the RCMP and WPS whose names appear far too often on the Honour Roll. Spread the word, help us to reach our goal and realize this dream. Donations can be made via PayPal at www.ManitobaPeaceOfficerMemorial.ca or via GoFundMe at www.GoFundMe.com/MPOMF Cheques can be mailed to Manitoba Peace Officer Memorial Foundation, c/o Winnipeg Police Museum P.O. Box 1680, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2Z7 Attention Mr. Jack Templeman. Please like and share this post with fellow officers, family, and friends. If every officer in this province donated the cost of a cup of coffee, we would crush this fundraising drive. Thank you for your time.

Manitoba Peace Officer Memorial Foundation 07.02.2020

Let us give thanks to the women and men on law enforcement who are working to help keep us safe this Thanksgiving and every other day of the year.

Manitoba Peace Officer Memorial Foundation 28.01.2020

Some of you have asked where correspondence could be sent, so here is the address: Manitoba Peace Officer Memorial Foundation c/o Winnipeg Police Museum P.O. Box 1680... Winnipeg, MB R3C 2Z7 Attention: Jack Templeman Cheques can also be made out to the Manitoba Peace Officer Memorial Foundation and sent to the above address. As we get donations, I’ll update our fundraising goal on GoFundMe, in the meantime, please, help spread the word and help us to reach our goal. Thank you again everyone for your interest in our cause, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
