We've been pretty quiet lately in terms of Bringing Manitoulin to the Mainland - right now, our focus is keeping people on Manitoulin safe at home & fed! If you're on the island and in need of grocery delivery, you can shop from the comfort of your home and we'll drop your order off (the next operating day) on your doorstep! The newest addition to our line-up of locally roasted coffees is this medium-dark roast from Manitoulin Coffee Co. We’re excited to support this new Islan...d business started by two sisters, Brianna & Alanna. This is the story behind their coffee: I’ve been blessed with an amazing little sister, Alana, who is the whole inspiration behind our brand. If you’ve met Alana you’d know she’s an amazing bundle of excitement and enthusiasm, but her mental disabilities prevent her from ever being able to have a job or career. Alana loves, I mean LOVES coffee. So I’ve set out to create a career for her that she is passionate about. Manitoulin Coffee Co. gives Alana a purpose, as well as a means to earn a bit of a living. She’s involved in roasting the beans, packaging it, and selling it at the markets with me. Our coffee is sourced from a small farm in São Paulo, Brazil. Alta Mogiana has an excellent infrastructure with easy access to technology and qualified labor. The region traditionally produces the best coffees in the state of São Paulo due to its high altitude, favorable climate and wide experience in producing specialty coffees.
