Our great grandfather and at least 35 generations before were extremely hard working farmers, In fact, they farmed our land in Daroli Khurd, Jalandhar, Punjab India from 13th century to 1964 when our great grandfather died, We are proud to still own this farm land as it connects us to our previous generations. Why this post? At the moment, farmers in Punjab and the rest of India are in a huge struggle. Here is wishing for prosperity of all farmers in Punjab, and the rest of the world. Guru Gobind Singh Ji Acrylic on Canvas 48" x 60" by @amrajsinghart He was the tenth Sikh Guru, a spiritual master, warrior, poet and philosopher. Among his many notable contributions to Sikhism are founding the Sikh warrior community called Khalsa in 1699 and introducing the five K's that are to be worn by Sikhs - Kara (symbolizing unity of self and a process of continuing learning), Kesh (symbolizing spiritual power), Kirpan (symbolizing respect and justice), Kanga (symbo...lizing cleanliness) and Kachera (symbolizing modesty). Guru Gobind Singh Ji is the one who finalized and enshrined the Guru Granth Sahib as Sikhism's primary scripture and eternal Guru. He believed in Dharma Yudh (war in defense of righteousness) something that is fought at last resort, neither out of a wish for revenge nor for greed nor for any destructive goals. Guru Gobind Singh Ji believed one must be prepared to stop tyranny, end persecution and to defend one's own religious values. He led fourteen wars with these objectives, but never took captives nor damaged anyone's place of worship. Thank you to @amrajsinghart for this spectacular peice of artwork that hangs proudly in one of the most used rooms in our house for us to often reflect on the teachings of our Guru. It has already sparked some interesting discussions.
