THE NPHL league has made the tough decision to put the 2020/2021 season on hold until further notice. The league will readdress the potential for a season at a later date. On behalf of the Manning Senior Comets Executive we would like to thank our community for the continued support of our team, although we are not able to start the season as we would have hoped! Stay safe and we look forward to continuing our pursuit for the Campbell cup! GO COMETS GO!
Due to the current restrictions we weren’t able to present our awards at our year end party but we would like to take this time to congratulate all of our award winners from the 2019/2020 season! Top Rookie - Jeff Boese Jeff showed the coaches a lot in his first year with the Comets. He was a key contributor to our penalty kill and worked his tail off every shift.... Most Sportsmanlike - Joel Henituik Joel faces the tough competition every night and does so while staying out of the penalty box. He’s also the first to welcome new teammates to the room and makes sure everyone feels at home in the dressing room. Most Dedicated - Mark Simpson Mark put on a ton of miles this winter, driving from Fort Vermillion before Christmas and Fairview after. He would play forward or defence wherever we were short and gave it all for his teammates every night. MVP - Braden Gamble Braden leads by example and gives us a chance to win every game. His work ethic rubs off on all his teammates. When he’s between the pipes it’s one less thing the coaches have to worry about. Top Goalie - Braden Gamble We were lucky enough to have two strong goalies this year, Braden Gamble & Dyson Loewen. Braden carries a heavy load for our team and with him in the crease we win the goalie battle against every team in the league. Top Defenceman - Michael Gillen Michael is a do it all defenceman for the Comets. He’s on the power play and penalty kill. He’s on the ice in the last minute whether we need a goal or are protecting the lead. Top Forward - Josh Rutherford Josh had a very strong season for the Comets. He lead our team in scoring and finished 2nd in the league. When he got injured in the playoffs he was sorely missed. Playoff MVP - Layne McLean Layne started to find his stride towards the end of the season and by the time the playoffs rolled in he was firing on all cylinders. Layne was a key contributor for the Comets vs the A’s. He was the spark plug for our offence and tied for team lead in scoring during the playoffs. Presidents Award - Kendall Kerr This season Kendall Kerr took on the responsibility of leading our organization as our president! Kendall consistently went above and beyond to ensure both our players and executive were happy. His commitment to the team shines and we are so lucky to have him on board, thank you Kendall! Spirit of the Comets - Jordan Lovlin (not pictured) Jordan is an amazing volunteer for our organization and always ready to help us out in the penalty box! When he is not in the box we can always guarantee he will be cheering us on from the stands, congrats Jordan!
Shout out to Big North Graphics for our Player gifts this year, we love them! Let us know if you loved the comeback of the retro logo this season!!
