As the weather gets colder and the water lines freeze, we move the pigs closer to the barn with more shelter for the winter. Nico helped take these guys for a little walk today to help settle them into their new quarters.

The @efao2 conference looks a bit different this year, but happy to be able to sit back, relax, learn, and get in some valuable cat time! We're always learning new ways to improve our soil structure and promote biodiversity, with the EFAO being a great resource. Excited to bring what we've learnt this year to our fields and your table in 2021! #efao2020

The @dundasfarmersmkt has ended for the season, but you can still come by our farm this week for lots of fresh vegetables. Either quick stop at our farm stand by the road or make your way down the driveway where there is more vegetables, meat, and a farmer or two to answer your questions

It's a wrap! Yesterday was our final harvest day. Thankful for the mild temperature to end the season with and this awesome crew!

This years lunches have been fantastic! Interns have upped the ante like todays wood fired creations a la Nick. YUM!

It looks like it will be a chilly night for our final Farm Feast but we have some wonderful treats in store, including freshly foraged Chicken of the Woods Mushrooms. We have a foraging specialist helping out on the farm who discovered these gems just in the back woods!

So thrilled to have hosted some of Hamilton's top chefs for their 3rd annual Cook's Camp

The garden is so bountiful at the moment lots of variety and we will be harvesting more and more fall crops in the coming weeks!

Another magical night May look a little different with socially distant tables instead of our long harvest table, but the energy of dining together in the open air is still the same!

Corn season makes us happy

Fresh, organic, pasture-raised chicken available at our farm store starting tomorrow until Sunday, August 9th! For large orders please email [email protected] This is fresh - never frozen - chicken. We've got whole chickens, halves, boneless breast, thighs w/drumstick, wings and livers. For those not able to get to the farm this week, we have frozen chicken available year round. Delivery also available!

Happy to report that this great horned owl is OK. He got tangled up in our netting around our hens last night We lost NO chickens and we now have a predator that hopefully has learned to respect electro-netting!

Intern Spotlight Nico is our on-farm nutrition specialist. He is finishing off his holistic nutrition program with a co-op at our farm. Whether he's helping us balance our hormones through food or weed whacking in 40+ degree weather he's always doing it with a smile and a "it's all good!" When he's not sweating away in the fields you can find this cool guy cruising around in his Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Week 1 done! Now time to relax before we start up again next week

We have had to cancel next week's Farm Feast but hope to be back on track for July with a new open air dining experience on the farm!

Half way through our first CSA week of the season! Big thank-you to our team for their hard work this week and all their work leading up to now! And thank you to those supporting the farm in other ways, we are very excited about this season and ready to take on the challenges that come with organic farming We'll be at the @dundasfarmersmkt from 3-7pm tomorrow with freshly harvested veggies and grass-fed organic chicken!

Some important details to know if you're joining us at the market tomorrow!

This week is the start of our harvest season so commences our busy season! CSA members pick up on Tuesdays and we are at the @dundasfarmersmkt on Thursdays as well as doing CSA deliveries. To top it off, hay has to be brought in from the fields before it rains this week! To help manage our busy season we are making adjustments to our farm store hours. Tuesdays and Thursdays we will be closed (except for CSA members picking up their basket). Sundays will be our day to relax the farm store will still be open but we will have it set up so you can serve yourself. We will still be around if you have any questions! We look forward to seeing you out at the farm and at the farmers' market

The Dundas Farmers' Market opens on June 11th! This year it will look a bit different so check out the protocols they are putting into place.

The harvest season has begun! We will keep you updated on vegetables available as the season progresses. Tuesday is our biggest harvest day of the week and the day when members come to pick up their vegetable baskets at the farm. In order to get the harvest done on time and to keep the number of people at the farm to a minimum, we will only be open for those picking up their basket.

Our first Virtual Farm Crawl is next weekend. Yesterday was our first outdoor planting day of the season! Keshia spent the day planting peas, carrots, beets, spinach, greens, radish, and turnip! . We decided to move forward with planting a little earlier this year in hopes that we can provide our local community with fresh, organic vegetables sooner! . Ivor was also helping out from time to time, pushing the earthway seeder, soil testing, and pacing out beds. Next lesson is on walking in the paths instead of the beds @ Manorun Organic Farm

Did you know we make our own seed starting mix? We use compost from our farm, as well as vermiculite, perlite, peat moss, and sand. This mixture ensures that our seeds get the best possible start, allowing for proper drainage and aeration. We sift our compost and peat to ensure that the mix is as fine as possible to give our seeds the best chance of germination.
