Report 8 Naked Cyclists have Healthy .......Hearts ! Danny had asked me to write a short article about what was going on each day on the HLT and he would repost these to the Bluewater and Bike Shop websites.... I am not sure how many readers are out there but I have heard at least 2 people are regular readers .....ha ha ! The 2013 Heartland Tour is officially over. The Halifax ride was very well attended under warm sunny skies. It was a different route this year out along Purcells Cove Road with views of the Northwest Arm as we rolled out to Herring Cove. With warm temps and some nice climbs. A young boy had set up a fresh lemonade stand by the side of the road and was doing a great business catering to all the thirsty cyclists at the top of one of the long hills. It was a great ride to connect with HLT friends and we took a more urban route back in to the commons for wrap up ceremonies. During the HLT closing speeches there was a Naked Bicycle Ride of about 35 cyclists spin by near our area. Attention was diverted momentarily while the Naked Cyclists tried to set a personal best lap time around the Skating Oval but they seemed to be having a lot of fun proving a day in a bicycle ( naked or not ) is still a great day ! So the HLT travelled from one end if the province to the other with more cyclists than ever before participating. There were more HLT events including running , walking , trail riding and youth fun days and much more. Thanks to all of you for making the HLT the best ever. See you on a ride soon. Report 7 Well the Heartland Tour is back in Yarmouth! A bit of drizzle cleared and we had a warm sunny day. A big thanks to all our volunteers who donated their time and did such a great job in making sure this stage ran smoothly. Our business and community supporters are very important part of making sure we can host a great stage As well our amazing team on our organizing committee always have great ideas to allow us to have a fun day. ... Highlights this year was the involvement of the many youth who participated in our Fun Afternoon with The Heartland Tour. There was so much energy and excitement at the Wesleyan Church at this event. 5 Lucky kids went home with brand new bicycles and helmets from Mansers Bike Shop and there were winners of many other prizes as well Our Yarmouth Heartland Tour Heroes Family was introduced and we all celebrated their accomplishments to live an active hearty lifestyle and reduce their cardiac risk factors. On Thursday nite The Heartland Tour Committee and Core Team also honored Danny Manser with a special presentation of the Big Heart Award. This Award honored Danny for all his support of so many cycling, running and other events of all kinds. He is a great example of one person making a big difference In our community in helping people be more active and healthy while having a lot of fun at the same time. Next time you see Danny please say hello and congratulate him on this award. He is very deserving. A special thanks to our registration volunteers. They did an awesome job of checking everyone in quickly and making sure they got their Heartland Tour T Shirts. Thanks to everyone who participated as you are leaders in your community as you influence family, friends and others to lead healthy lifestyles. See more

Report 6 Long and busy days have put me a bit behind with my reports but will try to update. In Bridgewater we had rain to start the day but quickly cleared and turned into a very warm day with some winds that were challenging at times. Here there is such variety in the HeartLand Route. We ride by the 3 famous Churches of Mahone Bay. One of my favorite sections in... is the road out to Indian Point. It is simply beautiful and even more so when viewed from a bicycle Thanks to Ron and Ian for once again organizing such a great day. All the kids on Kinsman Field having fun and being active and cheering us in at the end of the bike ride is always such a wonderful experience.@ See more

WReport 4 We are in New Glasgow and Pictou county today. Sunshine and breezes as we cycle along quiet rural roads There was a great turnout from local participants and a special kids trail ride this afternoon. I rode with the kids along the Samson Trail and they had a blast. There is a local competitive mountain bike program for kids here that is really special. I talked to participants I had met last year at this stage and it was nice to see them again. ... Try to make sure we have sunshine for Yarmouth on Friday :-) See more

Report 3 Today we cycled The Cape George Loop about 82 km and we had a cooler day which was very comfortable. In the afternoon we rode on a community ride of about 14 km. The Cape George loop has rolling hills and climbs that will challenge most riders. The reward is great scenery and the company of the local cyclists who know this route very well. We cycled the loop in a counterclockwise direction a first for me. ... We met the Antigonish Heartland Tour Heroes Family and cycled with them for the afternoon ride. There was also a sports camp for the youth organized by the local Heartland Tour Organizing Committee and the kids had a great time. Tomorrow the HLT Rides in New Glasgow and we are all very much looking forward to that See more

Report 2 Hey there everyone I am typing this on the bus please excuse any typing errors. Today we are in beautiful Cheticamp with a ride down to the Margaree Valley and back. Local participation was great and it was very nice to meet the Heartland Heroes Family. They had a wonderful day. The weather word today is hot with temps of 38 degrees and strong headwinds blasting us. ... We had so many beautiful scenic views of ocean and Forrest and mountains today. Did extra km s and ran out of water and had a real adventure. Due to the heat and humidity we all are drinking liters of fluids to stay hydrated. Roger, Ruth, Mike and I had the Yarmouth train going strong so that was a lot of fun and appreciated. Great Heartland Tour welcome here today so thank-you Cape Breton ! Well the 2013 HLT is underway. Bus and Van loaded driving to Cape Breton now. The HLT van looks fantastic with great murals and HLT scenes. Especially on the rear door there is a fantastic scene of the Yarmouth kids and cyclists Check it out when we come to Yarmouth@
