More cute dogs. I’m trying to remember to take photos of all the lesson dogs. These pups are all from today, I’m missing Coulee and Griffen though- forgot to take a picture of them! Lots of great work today. Raising puppies, training dogs, changing behavior- it all takes time. Nothing is magic or instant. It’s about practice, and setting up training scenarios, and building good habits. Change doesn’t happen overnight. It’s gradual! But- Like most things, it’s worth the effort!

Happy Friday to you all! I was cleaning out my phone, and found all of these adorable, smart, sometimes naughty little faces and wanted to share them! Most of these are from the week, some from the week before. All these faces (and the ones I didn’t take pictures of) are why I have no time for much in the way of phone calls, and why emails are sometimes late. As always I appreciate your patience and sometimes perseverance. ... Enjoy your weekend.

Just like most of the other businesses in town, we lost power a bit ago! Hopefully this storm blows through quickly and we can get the power back on! I’m going to be contacting the days stay and train owners shortly with an update!

This handsome dude is looking for a home. I’ve been doing some work with him for a week now and he’s a pretty great fellow. He is a typical border collie in lots of way but definitely doesn’t have that hyper edge that some do. He’s pretty chill in the house once he’s had some exercise. Message me or email for more info.

This is what hard work looks like!!! Reactivity is a hard, frustrating journey. It’s training and not just walking. It’s going out in all weather, driving to new locations, skipping the neighborhood walks, it’s hours of work. And lots of cookies, patience and good timing. But when you get it. You get it. Super proud of this team and all their hard work. Yeah for team Nola!

Just some of the cuties from the day! Saturday’s are the busiest day and fill up usually a few weeks ahead of time. I’m currently booking for the end of January. With this great weather we’ve been having we can even get outside!

Just some of the good dogs at day training today. I’m always just so amazed at just how much each dog improves over time! Henrie is a great example of that. She is very dog reactive and can be downright aggressive. When she first started coming she didn’t have any free time and learned about muzzles, and minding your own business. Now she’s just like everyone else and loves her play time. She’s also becoming a good listener and all around good dog. Her focus is great and he...r obedience snappy. She’s getting there! I freaking love seeing stuff like that! Henrie in the front, Peter the Labrador and Mia the fluffy one!

Covid 19 Update As per the newly announced provincial restrictions I will be unable to hold group classes for the next three weeks. This is unfortunate but understandable. On the bright side- Private Lessons and the Stay and Train program are still allowed to continue! My facility is sanitized between clients and masks are mandatory. Every effort to keep everyone safe is being taken. ... If you have an appointment booked and you’d rather wait for the restrictions to be lifted that is no problem at all- just let me know! Those of you signed up for the focus class will be getting an email shortly. The UBER adorable Tucker for good measure. Nothing like a cute puppy to bring a smile to your face!

Holy Batman these puppies are cute!!! This afternoon I Temperament tested a lovely litter of German Shorthaired Pointers. They even still had a bit of puppy breath! Nothing beats that...

I like to spread Christmas cheer, and with Covid things are extra tough right now. I haven’t had time to actually sit down and call the local long term care facilities and such but thought I’d start the easy way and post on social media! If you are the person in the know for one of the local (lethbridge, coaldale, taber) facilities and want an arranged visit- shoot me an email! ... This is completely free and Covid safe as we will be outdoors and masked, while the residents stay inside!

A little shenanigans to brighten your Monday. The day training dogs enjoy a play break in between work sessions. Boris and Hadley are very well matched and are hilarious together.

Saw this on my FB feed this morning and had to share it. This is very much the drill at my house. Most Dogs are really good at getting what they want!

Just a little slo-motion Henrie today. Matches how I feel these days! If you are waiting for an email, message or call back. Please be patient!

When I train my own dogs every session has loads of play. At the start, in the middle, at the end. Play loosens you up, gets the dog excited and thinking, and can help make challenging things a little less of a struggle. Not all dogs like to play the same way. My terrier is a lot more physical than my border collies. The terrier likes to growl and be pushed around a bit. The border collies prefer tugging, or catch. The corgis don’t like touching so we do butt scratches and... little tricks as part of our play. It’s up to you and your dog to figure out what works best! I challenge my regular students (and anyone else who wants to play!) to video a training session- and start with some play. The video should be under two minutes long. Send it to me. Everyone who enters will be put into a draw. I’ll draw next Tuesday! Prize is a gift certificate!

Boris came to Stay and Train for the first time today. I thought it would be a good opportunity to put together a little sample of what we do here! He had a great time, made some friends, will be tired when his owner comes to pick him up, and has a boat load of homework for the week! Good Job Buddy!... (Click on the IG link for a whole series of cute pics and videos from this morning)

Edit: This class is full. A few spots left in this class! This is one of my most popular classes. We work on building handler focus past distractions. Exercises that build on basic obedience, coming when called, and even some leash walking. We play games, teach tricks and really just have a great time. In this class we teach the dog that it’s fun to make good choices!
