January 22, 2021 Dear Residents, family members and staff, We are very pleased to share that our residents have received the COVID-19 vaccination today! Maple View is grateful for the professional and efficient team from the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit, that arrived today to make this happen! ... In a previous communique we shared the plan to complete resident vaccinations today along with half of our team members, with the remaining team members and our essential care giver visitors receiving their vaccination next week. Unfortunately, due to reduced availability of the vaccine we will be vaccinating our residents today and will announce at a later date when the vaccine will be available for our team members and essential care giver visitors. Family Communication December 24, 2020 Earlier this week we learned that effective December 26th at 12:01 am the Province will enter Grey Lockdown in alignment with the COVID-19 Response Framework: Keeping Ontario Safe and Open. For Maple View Lodge and the southern part of Ontario this means that a mandatory 28 day period of restrictions will apply. The current COVID-19 Response Framework will be paused when the province-wide shutdown comes into effect. Given this announcem...ent, the Ministry of Long-Term Care will be updating its policies and directives that align with the current COVID-19 Response Framework. To date we have not received those updates but wanted to ensure that we provided anticipated guidance which will be updated once formal notifications are received. As previously communicated with each level there are specific requirements that Long-Term Care Homes must follow. Changes to both visiting and testing are identified below as they will apply to the Lockdown level. Effective Saturday, December 26, 2020: Staff and Service Contractor Testing Weekly testing of staff and service contractors will be implemented with required proof of a negative COVID 19 test result in the past week. Visitor Testing Essential Caregivers are required to provide proof of a negative COVID19 test result in the past week and verbally attest that they have not subsequently tested positive prior to visiting. This excludes approved essential visitors who require immediate access to the home in an emergency situation. Visitor Access Essential caregiver access will decrease from two to one approved visitor for each resident General Visits are no longer permitted. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test result may be demonstrated by providing the home the results of the test (e.g. printout or on a mobile device showing the individual’s name, test date and result). You will be asked to sign a consent to share this information with us thus ensuring compliance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA). Resident Absences Resident absences are not permitted except for medical or compassionate reasons. Maple View Lodge continues to revise and implement practice changes in alignment with Ministry Directives and Public Health recommendations. New Contact Number for Visitor bookings We have recently added a landline to our front door so that families booking their visits can now call the Screeners on our landline. The new number to book a visit is 613-924-2696 extension 6006... we will continue using the cell number in the event this communication has not reached you but will eventually close off that method of contact. Please only use this extension to reach the Screeners for booking visits. The voicemail is not yet set up so if you dont reach us right away call back in 15 minutes. Our screeners are sometimes helping set up visits in areas around the home but are not away for too long.
