Treat small cavities using SMART. A minimally-invasive technique in which silver diamond fluoride is applied to the tooth to remineralize the cavity at hand, the tooth is then resorted 2-4 weeks later with a natural looking glass ionomer filling. Advantages: - no shots required... - no drilling required - long lasting antimicrobial effect. - suited for young patients, patients with anxiety, special needs patients and elderly or health-compromised patients who need to avoid sedation, shots or drilling. Invisalign to treat crowded teeth. Much nicer arch, easier to clean, biting forces distributed evenly on all teeth to prevent chipping. #drfotinimolnar #maplebrookdental #uxbridge #dentalhealth #dentallife #dentalgoals #dentalclinic #perfectteeth #toothdecay #dentalrehabilitation #toothgoals #dentalgram #dentistsofinstagram #teethcare #dentaltips #toothdecay #invisalign

Can you find the dark triangle? It’s the little dark gap looking like a poppyseed between teeth. It can happen for many reasons: -gum disease causing recession or bone loss -after orthodontics, the space is too big for the gums to fill. -the size and shape of the teeth ... -age #drfotinimolnar #maplebrookdental #uxbridge #dentalhealth #dentallife #dentalgoals #dentalclinic #toothdecay #dentalrehabilitation #toothgoals #dentalgram #dentistsofinstagram #teethcare #dentaltips #toothdecay #dentaldarktriangle #gumdisease

There’s a whole lot of planning going into a smile. This is just an image showing my thought process. Beauty is about symmetry, and although nothing is 100% symmetrical and can’t compete with nature and many many years of refinement, we can only try. This is why I take lots of photos, measure, draw, and outline. Like many, I’m a visual person and need to get the plan I have in mind on paper and share my vision with my patient. #dentaltreatmentplanning #dentalsymmetry #dentallife #dentistry #dentalart #drfotinimolnar #maplebrookdental #uxbridge

So I recently stumped upon my orthodontic pictures before treatment at 21 years old and noticed how much I have improved my facial aesthetics. You got some work done? You bet I did, and I love it. Having plastic surgery and enhancing yourself is nothing to be ashamed about. It doesn’t mean you don’t love yourself. Why do you go the gym? To be healthier and look good. Well, there is no gym for nose, lips and teeth, but there are plastic surgeons and dentists! As a dentist, I k...now the difference small improvements can have on a person. This is why I got in this profession, it makes people healthier and makes them look good and overall happier. So here is my journey: - Regular braces (wires and brackets) - Rhinoplasty @solomonfacialplastic - Invisalign @maplebrook_dental because I didn’t wear my retainer after braces and my teeth had shifted. Yes I had braces twice! - Lip fillers @maplebrook_dental Stay tuned for before pictures. #drfotinimolnar #maplebrookdental #uxbridge #dentalhealth #dentallife #dentalgoals #dentalclinic #dentalcrowns #dentalveneers #dentalcomposite #perfectteeth #dentalrehabilitation #toothgoals #dentalgram #dentistsofinstagram #teethcare #dentaltips #juvedermlips #invisalign

Single anterior crown for a discoloured central incisor due to root canal. Shade matching centrals to make porcelain and enamel match is probably the most difficult thing to achieve in dentistry. That’s because porcelain and enamel refract light differently. Our eyes pick up the shade difference between central incisors more than any other teeth. I would normally do a veneer on the other incisor but the patient declined. Nevertheless, the lab technician did an excellent job. Coffee on its own does not cause cavities. When milk, cream, or sugar is added to coffee, the sugars can lead to cavities. Frequency and exposure time are more of a risk factor than quantity, so the slower you drink your coffee, the more of a risk for cavities. Artificial sweeteners can be used as sugar alternatives but the quantity has to be limited as they can cause abdominal cramps and other unwanted digestive issues. So drink your coffee black if you can and drink lots of water after it. If you are worried about staining, wait at least 30 minutes after drinking coffee before you can brush your teeth. #coffeeandteeth #effectsofsugarinteeth #teeth #maplebrookdental #drfotinimolnar #uxbridge

Reshaping lateral incisors with composite resin. My apologies for the old image, but the point is to show the shape of the lateral incisor right after orthodontic treatment. It’s good to have a good communication between restorative dentist and orthodontist in order to achieve a better smile. I would say peg laterals (smaller sized lateral incisors) are pretty common and straightening them doesn’t make them wider. This is why I ask my orthodontist to leave space immediately after them in order to make them the right size as per the Golden Rule of Proportions. #dental #dentalcomposite #peglaterals #dentalhealth #dentalreshaping #maplebrookdental #drfotinimolnar #uxbridge

Crowded upper and lower teeth treated with Invisalign for 11 months. Recontouring upper and lower incisal edges was performed at the end to get rid of Mamelons (the round bumps at the edge of the front teeth) and jagged edges. The patient was really happy and we couldn’t be more proud. #invisalign #straightteeth #beautifulsmile #smilemakeover #drfotinimolnar #maplebrookdental #uxbridge @ Maplebrook Dental

Replacing crowns is never easy. You never know what you’re going to find underneath and how the tissue will heal 100%. You have to be prepared and be creative to achieve what the patient wants. This pink porcelain matches the gingiva so well, I’m so proud of it. On Friday, our world changed forever. (tIf it is not your day today, please don’t read this post at this time.) Abigail had been under investigation for some ...large lymph nodes that were otherwise normal. She was undergoing routine tests, and received a blood test Friday morning. At 11pm, we received a call to go immediately to emergency. We spent several hours at southlake before the paediatrician told us that it looked like cancer and sick kids wanted us transferred immediately. Within an hour of arriving, we had a diagnosis of leukaemia. By the middle of the day, we had a pinpointed diagnosis of B-ALL which is the best one with a cure rate of 96%. Her blood counts were very low so we spent Saturday getting transfusions and on Sunday they did further testing which revealed that it is subtype CNS II which means it is in abby’s cerebral spinal fluid. The prognosis is still very good with a high rate of cure but it is less. Abigail began the first chemotherapy on Monday. The treatment plan for leukaemia is 2.5 years and each phase has its own blueprint but it’s essentially 28 days on treatment, 1 week off and then 28 days. As of today (treatment day 2) she has already had 12 blood draws, 4 transfusions, 2 lumber puncture, a bone marrow aspiration plus drugs. We also found out that shes allergic to blood transfusions. This round alone has 7 Drugs just for treatment for the 28 days. That doesn’t include other drugs that are used to maintain her system. I can absolutely tell you that starting treatment for childhood cancer on the last day of our fundraiser for Camp Ooch is wild and surreal, but we did manage to raise $350 and being able to see that program, already, first hand has been uplifting. (Full disclosure: today I don’t feel #Aligned AF but I’ll get there) You are probably reading this and now have a broken heart. You may feel like you don’t know what to do to help (or like you don’t know what to do with your hands.) Abigail has a very large squad. There are about one million people who love her more than the world. As Abigail is only one leg of our child tripod, our little village has taken on the boys. What we need the very most right now is for anyone who is in direct contact with someone who is immediately impacted by Abigail’s illness, to avoid contact if you are sick. Although you may be suffering from pandemic burnout, please consider screening yourself as you’ve been asked to do for COVID and to wear a mask when in proximity of those people. We cannot afford for anyone to be in contact with us who is sick. If you are an anti-vaxer Or a hug not masks proponent, please feel free to exercise those rights as far away from my family as possible. Having to be 100% separated from 2 of our children is not something that are okay with, but that is what will have to happen if they get sick. If you still don’t know what to do with your hands, please connect with my sister - she’s quite ready to give you a job if you want one. We also accept prayers, well wishes, good vibes - Abby’s best friend Harper is reading her books and her mom sends us videos. That is the stuff that will help to keep us going. We are ready to fight this. We were very lucky as we caught this before Abigail was sick, sick - by the grace of God - and we have been able to start treatment immediately. It will be long and it will be the most difficult time of our lives - filled with many, many ups and downs. But we are ready. Sick Kids is phenomenal and state of the art and they are ready too. Things like this take a village - we cannot fight this fight without you and we are proud of the community that we have. From the very bottom of my heart, I want to thank every single cancer parent and patient who has shared their journey with me over of the years. I cannot tell you how much you guys have brought me strength in the past however many days (I’ve lost track). By sharing your stories, I have been able to handle this situation with a level of awareness and understanding that is uncommon for first diagnosis of cancer. You have made me stronger, and I am blessed (again) to have you in my life. I am ready because you opened your hearts and shared your stories and showed me how strong and resilient our beautiful babies are. Thank you. Thank you to everyone who has already shown your support to us in ways big and small. We love you. PSA - we found this by accident. Check your kids. Notice lumps. Be an annoying parent. Get blood done. The things that were symptoms we chalked up to her being 3 - and because I am neurotic we are lucky. If your doctor doesn’t support your inquiries, get a new doctor. Leukaemia is a fluke cancer - it is not linked to families or environment, it’s a rogue cell that takes over the body and this particular form occurs most commonly at Abigails age. As we are already in treatment, we probably won’t be able to connect back with you at this time. I will post more information about Abigails journey as soon as I figure out what to do. Russ and I have to take turns as there is only one parent allowed on site at a time. If you’ve made it to the end of this, thank you. We appreciate you.

E-Max crowns 13,12,11 and bridge 21-x-23. Apologies for the bloody gum line, this was taken the day of insertion. Unfortunately, I have not seen the patient since. We all have patients that come in wanting one specific treatment and then disappear. After having a great amount of dental work, it’s important to have a maintenance plan. During a pandemic budgets, budgets can be tight but the most important maintenance is done at home, very inexpensively. Ask me about my anti-cavity protocol. #maplebrookdental #silverdiaminefluoride #drfotinimolnar #emaxcrown
