If you're looking to kick start 2021 by getting more involved in your community, the Canadian Red Cross - BC & Yukon are looking for volunteers for their Health Equipment Loan Program! Volunteer opportunities are either virtual or working out of the Maple Ridge depot for short, convenient shifts - making appointments and assisting in loaning out walkers, bath seats and other health equipment to people recovering from injury or illness at home. Our 3 Citizen of the Year winners presented cheques with board members to their charities of choice: (Lifetime Achievement award winner) presenting $2,500 to Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services for Meals on Wheels with Foundation board member Kim Grimbeek... This project was a true collaboration between citizens, artists, the Foundation and the building owner to create beautiful works of art for all of us to share! Our trial trivia game this week maxed out on players - let's try to do the same for our Christmas Themed online trivia fundraiser tomorrow night! BONUS: We will IF we reach 50 players again! 'Tis the Season of Giving! We're pleased to announce our holiday giving project...we hope you'll join us in celebrating the holiday season with your fellow Maple Ridge residents, as well as some lovely seniors in need in our community.
What a great opportunity to enjoy some festive fun during the holidays while staying safe! UPlan, our local Youth Planning Table bringing a youth voice to community initiatives, is creating a self-guided holiday display tour for Ridge Meadows. The MRCF team had some fun and is happy to contribute to the Alisa's Wish Child & Youth Advocacy Centre gingerbread house auction! This auction will help fund the programs at Alisa's Wish that suport children and youth who have experienced or witnessed physical, emotional or sexual abuse. Thank you to Canadian Tire for helping Glenwood Elementary with their wishlist for some very deserving kids!
