Today’s podcast is live! In this episode you will meet Cyprine Omollo, program Manager of Clean Start Kenya. Clean Start is an organization that helps women and girls transition back into society after being in prison or juvenile detention. Cyprine shares her story of having being imprisoned herself for being unable to pay her debts and sheds light on the desperate plight of women, girls and children she met behind bars. It was after serving time at the remand section of La...ngata Women’s Maximum Security for six months, that Cyprine was a recipient of the newly founded Clean Start program herself. Since being released from prison in 2014, Cyprine has received training at Resurgo Trust London in Coaching for Leadership and has was selected for the Global Change Leaders Program at St. Xavier University in Canada 2020. A beautiful reminder that growth and renewed goodness can be just around the corner.
"Grieving takes as long as it takes, and its as hard as it is. We cant rush grieving. Many people try to rush it. They think they can wait grief out by refu...sing to acknowledge it. Not acknowledging grief does nothing but prolong it. We grieve when we lose people. We grieve when we lose pets. We grieve when we lose well-established relationships or experience changes in well-entrenched life patterns. Grief is the minds and the bodys way of processing loss. When we lose things that are important to us, were not just sad that those things are no longer there. Loss forces us to look, squarely in the eye, the reality of the passage of time. The reality that everything is temporary. The reality that we will never be able to settle into a routine indefinitely, because the only fundamental constant in the world really is change. Loss reminds us of dreams and ambitions and plans we once had. Loss reminds us of relationships and bonds we once had. Loss reminds us of past times, both good and badbut which are gone forever. Grief is how we try to deal with being reminded of all of those thingsand how we begin to accept the loss of those things. Our brains struggle with the concept of acceptance. When we experience something that is painful, were not great at accepting the reality that that painful thing even exists. Our first instinct is to reject the reality of that thing, in a futile hope that our rejection of it may cause it to not exist. Things exist whether or not we accept them. Loss definitely exists whether or not we accept its reality. Grief is a series of emotional reactions that help us bridge that gap between wanting to deny that loss exists, or that loss is painfuland the reality of needing to accept that loss simply is. Refusing to let yourself grieve, because you fear the pain involved, is a cruel thing to do to yourself." Read more:

A fun little video that is a great example of the value of talking with our kids at any age! Also a reminder of how they will model what we do. So sweet

The notion of consent may seem very grown-up and like something that doesnt pertain to children, but the lessons girls learn when theyre young about setting physical boundaries and expecting them to be respected last a lifetime.
For all those Moms who feel torn and wish they could get more "accomplished"...holding your child is one of the most valuable accomplishments you will achieve in your lifetime.
Thank you to this little girl who is brave enough to speak out on behalf of those who have not yet had the courage.
