Carrie here.... Just....wow. Thank you so so much, to everyone who came out today for the 2nd installment of the MW Combined Test Winter Series. I am awed by you all (and I need to do better at taking pictures!)... Speaking of pictures - someone who doesn't get enough credit - is Jeannie Gane. She has, this uncanny ability, to capture emotion in a photograph. Do you know, that Sian Pritchard is Marley's scribe? When you see the marks and notes beside the movements on your dressage test, it's Sian who writes it all down. Every. Single. One. It takes a LOT of math to get those scores tabulated, calculated and checked. Elizabeth Morten is the magician behind that. Keeping things on time - is basically impossible. Erin Lee made this impossible feat, allllmost manageable by managing our warm up ring. We couldn't have a Combined Test series, without the okay from our fearless leader, Jen B Eva Harvard - 3rd time's a charm...I (87%) promise. In case peeps didn't figure it out - Marley Crosby and Andrew Rafail Eventing are my coaches - and I'm so appreciative of them spending their Sunday with us, so we can all improve. Theresa Rickerby - All Creatures Great and Small Cobourg. Hooollly smokes. You're an incredible human. Thank you - from the bottom of my heart - for supporting this series, literally, from Day 1. Sara Edwards of SE Equestrian - your ribbons are the best around. The Littles' faces when they see them, make me so so happy. Times for the second show of this winter's Combined Test Series at Maplewood Stables Cobourg are almost ready to be released and they should be up by tomorrow. A few things to be mindful of if you are attending this show as a rider, parent, cheering section, sibling etc. First off: Parking - there are a few trailers coming in on Sunday. Please keep the laneway and open area by the barn free and clear at all times. To those shipping in, Carrie will be in touch with you before... the weekend to let you know where to park. Please please please car pool wherever possible. It is STRONGLY recommended you DO NOT PARK on the shoulder(s) of Hwy2. ***ALSO IMPORTANT*** While the premise behind this show is for a fun learning experience in a great environment, it will absolutely feel like a show atmosphere. Meaning - the riders and their horses have been working hard at having this be as successful as possible for them - and a lot of them are using this as prep for the "real" show season. While it is great to have spectators, should children accompany parents/guardians to the barn the day of the show as spectators, it is the parent/guardian's responsibility to ensure that the children spectating are mindful of some barn rules. This is also true during the in between ride times for those who are riding. Most importantly of the barn rules: NO running in the barn NO yelling/shrieking on barn property NO running around the areas where the horses and the riders are performing Horses & Riders have the right of way Children are the responsibility of their parents/guardians. Failure to comply, will result in the child(ren) getting several shots espresso, a puppy and then being asked to leave. Not kidding here folks, ask Carrie how serious she is about this. Please be respectful and supportive to the riders who have been working extremely diligently over the past few weeks getting ready for the kick off show. PORT O POTTY There will be a port of Potty outside the door to the main barn. The Washroom will be OFF LIMITS the day of the show. Actually. Can. Opportunity to step out of your comfort zone because guess whatThat is where the magic happens. Opportunity to learn. Opportunity to remember you are NOT who you were last year. Dedication, doesn’t have an off season and what you do every single day, matters. Remember it’s what you do when no one is watching, that counts the most.
