Today marks 5 years since we have opened our doors!!! It is hard to believe that 5 years have already gone by. Over time, our clinics have changed and evolved in order to better serve you. What has not changed is the constant support from our local communities, businesses and patients, and for that we are forever grateful. We THANK YOU . A couple of months ago, we were fortunate to be able to move into our new location. We look forward to starting our 6th year of pract...ice in a new professional space and continue to optimize your health as best as we can! The SCP team

Effective this Friday, July 24th, 2020, all persons entering our clinics will be required to wear face masks. This directive is brought to us by Ontario’s Medical Officer of Health. For more information, please click on the link below. https://www.tbdhu.com/mandatorymasks... Should you arrive to your appointment without a mask, we will provide you with one and a $1 fee will be added to your visit bill. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding as we continue to implement new policies and procedures.

Wellness Wednesday is here again :) As we continue to explore our self-myofascial series in order to better help you from the comfort of your own home, we will take a look at the NECK. There is a lot to cover for this region, which is why we will divide it into a few parts. As always, these techniques will require either no or minimal equipment. We will not be providing an exhaustive list of techniques, but rather a few simple tricks you can easily and safely perform at hom...e. Click on the photos attached to this post for a detailed description on how to perform each exercise, as well as how many reps and sets. We hope you can implement these exercises in your daily movement routine. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us. Stay healthy & safe, -SC+

Wellness Wednesday is here! We’ve had some requests to touch on how to perform self-myofascial release at home so that you are able to alleviate some muscle tension should you be experiencing any. We will start from the top and work our way down, with today's area being the SCALP. NOTES:... These techniques will require either no or minimal equipment. We will not be providing an exhaustive list of techniques, but rather some simple tricks you can easily and safely perform at home. Throughout this series, we will be attaching links to videos for more visual input!! To begin with the scalp, the simplest way is using your finger pads: 1Bring together your thumb, index and middle finger to form a triangle with the pads of your fingers. 2Place your finger pads directly on the scalp, almost trying to grip the base of your hair (absolutely no hair pulling necessary). 3Apply a small amount of pressure into the scalp. This is highly individual as you want an amount of pressure that is comfortable for you. You do not want this to be painful. If it is, back off a little bit. 4Move your scalp in a circular fashion clockwise 5-10 times then counterclockwise another 5-10 times. This should be a small circle, roughly the size of a quarter. 5It is more effective if your fingers do not actually move over the scalp. Rather you want to try to move the scalp itself (I hope this makes sense!). 6It's easier if you work in a pattern and do one half of your scalp at a time. We recommend using your right hand to release the right side and your left hand to do the left side. So it would look like this: start top of the head, follow the hairline down to the temple region, back of the ear to the base of the neck. This creates a line of work from the top of the head down to the neck junction. Then you repeat this line about half an inch IN from where you just were and keep going until you've covered the entire scalp We hope you're able to give this a try at home and that you find it helpful. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us. Stay healthy and safe, -SC+

Re-Opening! The Ministry of Health of Ontario released it's Directive #2 document outlining the operational details and requirements for a safe re-opening of regulated health professionals... that is US! We want you to be aware of how things will operate and what to expect once we officially re-open our doors. Over the next few days, we will be creating additional Facebook posts detailing the changes that will be put into place in our clinic space. The main topics we will be... addressing: - Patient Screening protocols for CoVID-19 - Appointment bookings and pertinent information as to how appointments will be scheduled and conducted - Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) - Clinic hygiene and disinfection We will have a tentative re-opening date over the next couple of weeks! It’s been just over 5 weeks that all of our essential and frontline workers have been putting themselves at risk, leaving their families behind, working longer hours and stressful shifts in order to take care of our communities. We’ve been thinking of you all along. Let’s take a moment to acknowledge all of your hard work and support. We are praying that you can all stay healthy and safe ... THANK YOU

If you’re looking to switch up your exercise routine and want some ideas on how to perform exercises using household items, this short video is a MUST watch Thank you to Michèle Lajeunesse for filming this video for our community! Remember, movement IS medicine. And during these unprecedented times, your body can use all the self-care you’re able to give it. An extra bonus is the exercise-induced release of endorphins, your body’s own natural feel good hormones!

As our clinic remains closed amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to be able to help you navigate through these uncertain and unprecedented times. The situation we are all faced with can be stressful at the best of times, which is why we created our new Wellness Wednesday Newsletter. Our hope is to provide you with some short and easy-to-read health advice, wellness tips, and bring some positivity to your week. We have your back (pun intended) and well-being at heart, even ...remotely. For those of you who have had to relocate your offices into your homes, you’ll want to keep reading as we will kick this series off with 10 ergonomic tips on how to enhance your home work station. 1. Ensure that the top of your monitor is at eye level and that your monitor is roughly an arm’s length away; 2. Keep your neck in a neutral position by slightly tucking in your chin; 3. Keep your back in a slightly reclined position. If your home office chair doesn’t offer enough back support, you can improvise by adding a pillow, a rolled up towel or a lumbar roll; 4. Ensure your keyboard is at or below elbow level; 5. Ensure that you have minimal bend in your wrists; 6. Keep your elbows tucked in close to your body; 7. If your chair does not offer adjustable height, you can add a stiff pillow to sit on (if chair is too low) or you can prop up your feet (if chair is too high); 8. Make sure the front of your seat is not pressing on the back of your knees; 9. Make sure your feet are resting flat on the ground or whichever surface you’ve propped them up with; 10. Create a standing desk if you can! Whether it’s using your kitchen counter or a bookcase, this will allow you to move between two office spaces thereby minimizing your sitting. Voila! You’ve now created a much more ergonomically-friendly space to allow you to carry out your work duties comfortably. We hope you found value in this newsletter and let us know if you’ve been able to apply some of these tips to enhance your work environment. Stay tuned for next weeks! If there are any topics you would like us to include in future newsletters, please let us know Stay healthy and safe, -SC+
