1 Beat Up Ticket to the Gun Show. *one week post biking crash. Paul is working on range of motion for the shoulder, scapula and progressing through strengthening exercises with soup cans and those coloured weights. I have more empathy for folks talking about how tight their chest becomes post upper extremity injury. **Paul cannot play punch buggy at the moment. #sportphysio #sportphysioyyc #mardaloop
We are really excited to have Sarah Robinson working with us at Marda Loop Physiotherapy! Sarah is a physiotherapist with dual interests in orthopaedic and pelvic health physiotherapy. Most recently, Sarah spent five years at the Canadian Sport Institute and travelled with the National Alpine Ski Team as the lead therapist. She was a medical team member at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games and two FIS World Championships. #pelvicfloor #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy #skiphysio #yycsport #orthopedic #orthopaedics #sportphysio #mardaloop
There is a lot to be Thankful for these days. We are thankful for our Marda Loop Physio staff, our wonderful clients, being able to work, use our brains and bodies, our beautiful province, the ability to experience the great outdoors, the Marda Loop Community and the collective endeavour to make Alberta one of the best places in the world to call home! Happy Thanksgiving! #mardaloop
Injuries happen fast and without a lot of warning. Even if you have ridden a mountain bike trail dozens of times and know it like the back of your hand crashes can happen. Getting it checked my a medical professional can help establish an early rehabilitation program and a path to recovery. Just over a year ago Nicole Hunter sustained a really bad ankle sprain (picture included) that required a ton of rehab and home exercises. Proprioception, is the fancy term meaning the perception or awareness of the position and movement of the body. For the lower leg it usually means that our balance system is not working well. When you injure any joint the proprioception can become impaired. The good news is that if you work it and do balance exercises and weight bearing... exercises you can retrain this system. Functional ways to rehab the lower leg are hiking and walking on uneven ground. Things you can do to transition to functional activities can include bracing, taping, supportive footwear and hiking poles. The key to all rehab is keep moving and use those joints. Nicole is enjoying the transition from mountain biking to hiking in the Rocky Mountains #sportphysio #sportphysioyyc #anklerehab #mardaloop See more
