Ladies and gents, boys and girls - if you have access to CRAVE TV/HBO, try your utmost to catch David Byrne's "AMERICAN UTOPIA" , as documented by Spike Lee. Fascinating, provocative, timely - and deeply moving.

Last spring I posted a photo of this same sign when the skies were brooding grey and the ground was blanketed by snow. Though the seasons come and go, BALLYCROY remains. I continue in my effort to tell the tragic tale of what happened on April 25, 1875, when flames burned deep into the night, taking the lives of three innocents while changing the course of Canadian history. BALLYCROY, a ghost story ... stay tuned.

BALLYCROY (a ghost story). The past many weeks of quasi-isolation have afforded me time - always a precious commodity. A cast of three (women), 8-piece orchestra ... stay tuned.

Snow may fly ... but music soars!

Yuletide celebrations abound - and, midst the end of year reminiscing, we look towards the future. There is always a keen sense of adventure and expectation as the 1st of January peers 'round the corner. I am embarking on an interesting path as 2020 arrives. Besides my usual work as a theatre composer, I'll be welcoming new challenges creating original pieces (lyrics, music and various styles of orchestration) for special occasions. So, if any of you out there are curious enough to know more, please don't hesitate to contact me directly. I'd be happy to offer details. The path beckons ...

Heard tell that "a change is as good as a rest". Well, in that spirit (in fact, the Christmas Spirit), I have taken a momentary step off "the composer's path" in order to participate in a truly delightful project with the venerable Blyth Festival. Artistic Director, Gil Garratt has collaborated with songwriter, John Powers. They have jointly created a refreshing new musical adaptation of the timeless Dickens classic, "A Christmas Carol"- with the wonderful Randy Hughson as "...Scrooge". "A Huron County Christmas Carol" offers a most unique take on the story. Gil's beautiful, provocative script is complemented by John's colourful score - and our fine cast (Marion Day, Greg Gale, Graham Hargrove, Jonah Manley, Alicia Toner and myself) join Randy Hughson in the telling of this tale. Come celebrate with us in Blyth, Ontario from November 28 thru December 22. For full details: www.blythfestival.com "God bless us, everyone!"
