Maria and The Band

We would like to inform to all of our friends and fans that we have updated the name of the band to Maria and The Band. The reason we decided to make this change is because we do not longer wish to be connected to anything relate to the "Cangaço". Cangaço was a banditism phenomenon of Northeast Brazil in the late 19th and early 20th centuries full of contradictions and violence. Our political and social views differ from what that movement represented. We respect the historical importance of this period of time but, we are not supporters of it. It's time to move on and create new references that resonate more with our values and beliefs! Thank you

EP Updates! Hi Everyone, Jerusa Leao here! First, I would like to thank you once again for all of your support in helping us to record our first EP. I am writing to share with you all some updates about the process so far. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 restrictions, our recording schedule was delayed. Personally, I was travelling in Colombia when the pandemic began, and because of shut downs, what was supposed to be a short vacation became a 5 month stay, as internationa...l travel was totally stopped. I am finally back in Canada, quarantining for the next two weeks, and will be working toward the completion of our EP project, so that we can share the music with you as soon as possible. In the meantime, I want to let you know that as a donor to our fundraising campaign, you will still receive your reward. However, we are working to make some adaptations to the delivery of these rewards in order to fit the current COVID-19 restrictions.
