I trust everyone had a happy Thanksgiving weekend, even during these strange times. We enjoyed the world's tiniest turkey and I will be making soup today. Tonight, at 7:00 p.m., I will be reading from my soon-to-be-published novel, "Maud and Me" as part of the Northwestern Ontario Writer's Workshop's reading series. Also reading will be Jenny Sharpe and Vera Constantineau. The theme of the readings tonight is "How Wonderful to See You." A 16-Balloon Announcement Why are there bunches of yellow balloons over my dining table, you may ask? I am celebrating: my novel, Maud and Me, that I have been labouring over for lo, these many years, has been accepted for publication by Crossfield Publishing! The publisher hopes to bring the book out in the first half of 2021. Hopefully, by then we will be able to gather again and celebrate with a joyous launch. Stay tuned!

There’s a monster on the loose in Sonia and Zoe’s school! All the adults are afraid of what he might do. Would he eat their buttons? Would he eat their shoes? It’s up to the two girls to solve the problem. There’s a Monster in my School! is now on sale for Christmas at Authentique Gift Store on Bay Street. At $12, and with fun illustrations by Thunder Bay’s Susan Mattinson, it’s a fun read for children ages 4-8. (Spoiler alertthis monster is more cuddly than scary.)

The Big Reveal Remember this photo? Finally, I can end the suspense about who is being toasted here. Marion Agnew (on left, in the purple top) will be launching her collection Reverberations, published by Signature Editions, at the Prince Arthur Hotel in the Bertrand Room, Saturday, November 23, from 2-4 p.m. Marion will be reading from this amazing collection of essays about her Mother’s journey with Alzheimer’s disease, and selling copies. Snacks provided. So proud of Mari...on’s achievement! Her work has been included in Best Canadian Essays, shortlisted in CBC’s literary competition, and nominated for awards.
