"This cycle of violence (emotional and/or physical) is a toxic turning of unpredictable highs and lows. With each spin, it breaks you down. Any shred of self-esteem you have starts to erode. You feel worthless and almost deserving of their anger. You start to believe it when they say you’re to blame for it. But you somehow rationalize it all by thinking that all they need is you to fix them to make the abuse go away. All you need to do is to love them more. You don’t realize it, but loving them has become an addiction for you. You’re addicted to an unavailable personsomeone who is not there for you and who doesn’t care for you." ~Vivian McGrath

"...telling yourself you shouldn’t be exhausted doesn’t make you better able to function through your tiredness. Demeaning yourself for needing a break doesn’t make you any more productive or effective. And belittling yourself for feeling whatever you feel doesn’t immediately transform your emotions. If you’re tired, you need rest. If you’re drained, you need a break. If you’re hurting, you need your own compassion. And nothing will change for the better until you give yourself what you need." ~Lori Deschene

Pause for a moment and enjoy the beauty of nature. Allow the tasks and texts, to-do-lists and our own expectations, to simply fall away. Like the leaves of the trees letting go for the season, getting ready for a well deserved rest. #mentalhealth #mindboostminute #naturesvibe

Thoughts Are Not Facts. This is an important concept for maintaining good mental health. Unexamined thoughts often lead to judgments, or to words and actions that are hurtful to ourselves and others. That's why it's so important to take time to reflect and examine our thoughts. Be mindful of the information that you are taking in and bring conscious awareness to your thinking. You will find you start to experience more peace and clarity of mind.

Walking meditation provides an opportunity to practice being mindful while at the same time, moving your body. If you practice outdoors, you will also get the benefit of the mental boost that nature provides. Love this powerful holistic practice!

Dr. Steven Hayes suggests how we can achieve our biggest goals by taking small steps. Behavior tends to reinforce itself. We do what we do because it’s what we...’ve always done. This can become problematic when we fall into rigid habits, but it can also liberate us when we know how to take advantage of it. Small behavioral changes can build to create huge changes over time. The trick is to calibrate your efforts. Initially, it’s best to make small and quick changes. If you want to read more and watch less television, start with no television after work until you’ve read for 30 minutes. Even if the commitment you’ve decided on is already small, it can help to make it smaller still. Make it 15 minutes of reading, or cut out a single show you think is mindless. It does not matter how small the change is, as long as you are making progress. See more
