The panel organised by the DEFF fisheries branch is currently meeting to determine whether island closures are beneficial for penguins. Seabird scientists belie...ve there is strong evidence to suggest they are. Seabird scientists believe that closing islands to small pelagic fishing within a 20 km radius will benefit penguins. The fisheries have a different interpretation of the data. With populations plummeting, we believe everything possible needs to be done to #SaveTheAfricanPenguin

Sabrina - Animal Care Staff: Favourite animal: Snakes My most memorable experience would have to be from February 2020 when I was able to train my first full sea lion presentation with Pablo! It felt amazing to be able to put all of my training and hard work to use. Also, back in 2009, I participated in the Trainer for a Day program that Marine Life offers and part of my experience was volunteering for an entire scene during a presentation. I really felt like I came full circle by being able to come back and work with the sea lions full-time.

With last night’s admission of 29 chicks abandoned by ...moulting parents at Stony Point penguin colony, we now have a total of 45 rescued #Africanpenguin chicks in our Nursery and Chick Rearing Unit.
