Mariner family, We are reaching out to you today in support of our assistant coach, Wayne Woyciehouski. Wayne has been our assistant coach for the past 3 years and prior to that was a Mariner athlete for 5 years. His mom, Shari, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4A cervical cancer. Her hometown does not have a cancer treatment centre and so she must relocate away from home for 40+ days to be near the treatment centre. The costs of accommodation and medication among oth...er necessary resources are extremely high, therefore the family has started a GoFundMe account to try and raise money for Shari. This past weekend the Mariners came away with another 2 win weekend. This time taking down the Douglas College Royals. Winning both games by a score of 3-1. It was an awesome all around weekend for the Mariners. After these 2 wins the M's move to 9-1 on the season and are just 2 points behind the Capilano Blues who are 10-2 and lead the league in points. With Capilano having played 12 games the Mariners get the chance to move into first place next weekend. When the University of Fraser Valley Cascades come to VIU to close out the semester. Great weekend for the Mariner's in Cranbrook. Pulling off another victory today against College of the Rockies Avalanche 3-1. Only dropping one set on the weekend is a huge boost for the M's moving forward building consistency and confidence! The player of the game for the M's was Keal Prince who did an excellent job of running the offence as well as being very officiant from the service line and on offence. The M's move to 7-1 with the victory and have two games in hand on the first place Capilano Blues. The M's play on the road again next weekend at Douglas College. The VIU Mariners Men's team wins a THRILLER of a third set against the College of the Rockies Avalanche. Coming back from down 23-17 to take the set 27-25!!!! Completing the 3-0 win for the Mariners improving to 6-1 on the season. Player of the game for the M's was Denham O'Reilly. The M's will be back at it tomorrow early in the afternoon with a 1pm mountain time start. Tune in at pacwest.bc.ca to watch the game live online.
