The kettle is on and the scene is set! Lakehead University and Mariposa Arts Theatre (MAT) invite you to afternoon Tea with the Dames! Come share a special brew of wit, wisdom, and delicious stories on Sunday, March 14 at 4 p.m. https://www.lakeheadu.ca//community-pro/tea-with-the-dames... Taking a cue from four legends of British stage and film Dames Judi Dench, Eileen Atkins, Joan Plowright, and Maggie Smith some of MAT’s own dames and gents will engage in a lively discussion, some trivia, and share their thoughts on the fun and quirky British documentary of the same name. MAT will also be celebrating the 100th birthday of one of Orillia’s grand dames, Sue Mulcahy. The documentary, Tea with the Dames (2018), will be available to watch on a computer, tablet or TV prior to the live virtual event on March 14. Participants will get to know Dench, Atkins, Plowright, and Smith, as they share their secrets on life, love, and art. Care for some freshly baked sweet treats with your Tea? If so, when you register select: "Add-on: Porch Pickup of Tea & Treats from Kathy's Kakes in Orillia [$8.00]". Treats can be ordered until this Thursday. (YUM!) According to MAT President, Fran Gelder, the joint fundraising event is a milestone in itself. We look forward to sharing tea with our dedicated MAT film night fans and others as they get their fill of quality film as well as support the arts community. It’s a delight to work with Lakehead University’s Dr. Linda Rodenburg and her team. Our MAT film committee is on stand-by to resume our very popular film nights, and live theatre is in the works for when we can safely meet again live! Tickets are on sale now! Find out more about this event by clicking on this link: https://www.lakeheadu.ca//community-pro/tea-with-the-dames A portion of the proceeds will benefit Mariposa Arts Theatre and the Lakehead University Travel Fund in honour of Sue Mulcahy.
