I have 5 shotgun microphones, had this one for maybe a year before it broke. I know that I will never use it again. I know that no one will ever use it again, and yet I still couldn't throw it out. Even brand new it's financial value is totally inconsequential to me. Today I forced myself to throw it out and I inexplicably cried like I was burying a friend. What mental illness is that called? #deity #deitycomponents #soundrecordist

TL;DR : Pro tip: Grade and then pre render clips that you want to Rotoscope into separate 10-15 frame clips and roto each one individually. For the intro sequence of #tootackytaranaki there were 6 clips that I needed to Rotoscope all with very difficult lines for the ai to identify which resulted in needing to put a lot of strokes on each frame working frame by frame and as each stroke is an additional set of information that after effects now has to process for all subseque...nt frames in the clip it becomes a huge amount of processing very quickly, and because many of the lines are too difficult for the ai to follow for itself on even a single frame, all of that background processing going on for your strokes that you really only want to apply to the frame your on is for mostly nothing and will bog down the system brutally, especially in my situation where I am in a project with dozens of comps, hundreds of layers many of them 3D, a lot of heavy scripts running, many hundreds of 3D shape objects etc it was so slow moving forward I was losing my fucking mind. Like sometimes id work on a frame then go ahead one frame and the processing to go ahead 1 frame would take minutes with hundreds and hundreds of frames to go and then a few times I'd put in huge sessions, get really far and have random crashes and lose a lot of strokes or the strokes would process differently and I'd have to go over these clips again and again and again. I knew there had to be a way to do this task efficiently and I wasn't going to give up and just let my show have half assed graphics work. So I started researching and reading forums where someone suggested rendering everything out into tiny clips to prevent the roto from needlessly looking at too many frames. (I actually sort of thought of that intuitively earlier but I initially just broke up the clip into separate tracks in the comp thinking it would do the same thing but it doesn't) You actually need to break up the source clip into sections. So I did that and I roto'd through the complex lines like a hot knife through butter. #motiongraphics #workflow #aftereffects #postproduction #latenighteditsquad #adobe
