A little while ago, I did something that, with less than 1% of my vision left, I thought I would never, ever be able to do Back-country skiing has always been a HUGE dream of mine. As a former pro-skier, backcountry skiing seemed like the ultimate dream: epic powder, nature + the best skiing you could ask for. But as my eyesight has diminished more and more over the last 20 years, so to did the dream of ever trying to achieve this.... But along came @BrailleMountainInitiative - an NPO with a mission to make backcountry sports accessible for blind and visually impaired people. What is the biggest secret to success in ANY goal (no matter how big or small)? When I think or talk about success, I often think about it as a tiered PYRAMID made up of knowledge, action, and psychology. Knowledge: As a therapist, your knowledge comes through your training. This is important, but not the most important!... Action: Action trumps knowledge every. day. You can be the most knowledgeable person in the room, but if you aren't taking actions to pass on your knowledge, then it doesn't matter what you do! Psychology: The basis for both action and knowledge is psychology. What differentiates A players from B players in everything is that A players have the psychological mindset to achieve their goals: they know what they want, why they want it and most importantly, that they WILL get it.

FLAT DAYS We all have flat days, even flat weeks. Days that run you, instead of you running them. Days where your to-do list is nowhere near getting done, and the day just flies by. These days happen to ALL. OF. US. Instead of putting an insane amount of pressure on yourself to achieve what you set out to do + measuring your worth on what didn't get done, give yourself a pat on the back for SHOWING UP.... Because let's be realistic - you probably knew you weren't getting it all done anyway. So relish in the fact that you set a goal, and while you may not have achieved the outcome, you tried your best. Progress, not perfection. That's because our vision is what we rely on most when itcomes to perception. When translating into your practice, this means that a client judges (subconsciously or consciously) your competency as a therapist before even getting on the table....
