The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society supports a bill introduced by Davenport MPP Marit Stiles that would put an end to the inhumane practice of declawing cats in Ontario, a procedure that can cause a lifetime of pain for cats. Learn more: https://bit.ly/37W68m0

At 13.5 years old, a senior dog finds her furever home just in time for the holiday season!
Simply put, humane education focuses on nurturing compassion and respect for animals and all living things, including the Earth. It helps one understand the interconnectedness of the living world and to recognize how their beliefs, decisions and actions impact the lives of others, near and far. The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society believes this type of education is very important for children. This is why we developed AnimalSmart, a free online humane education program. Calling all Rabbit lovers! When Muffin and Charlie came into the care of the Ontario SPCA they were very nervous of people. They are starting to come around and learn to trust. They are a bonded pair (spayed and neutered) and are looking for a home together. Muffin will now allow you to pet her, Charlie is still shy but will come up to you and give you a sniff. We are looking for an experienced rabbit parent who is willing to continue to slowly socialize them.
Young puppies and kittens are adorable and playful they also require a lot of time, need to be trained and are balls of energy. If this doesn’t sound like the right fit for your family, a senior furry family member may be for you! It is important to find an animal companion that is compatible with your lifestyle. Cats and dogs are considered senior once they reach the age of seven, but maturity does depend on breed and size. Here’s why senior pets are awesome! https://ontariospca.ca/b/adopting-senior-animal-companions/
1 Year Update! Little Missy was a stray kitten that was adopted back in November 2019. When Missy first went home her family told us she was doing extremely well and that they had renamed her Skye. They played with her every day with all her new toys! She started to love being held and climbing on laps when she needed some rest. Fast forward to a year later!...... "Skye has been doing very well. She is playful still as a young adult and she is always showing us love. She is loved by everyone in the family and as the first cat we have adopted, she definitely opened our hearts to the feline world. We adopted a second kitten a short while after we had her, and we now have become a kitten foster family to start helping more kittens like Skye. Thank you all for the amazing work you have done to help these sweetie pies and we cannot be more thankful to have her!" If you have already adopted an animal, or if you're not in the position to adopt right now, you can still help an animal in need by making an online gift. Visit pawsandgive.ca to see symbolic gifts that provide animals with critical care and a comfortable stay while they await adoption. #iAdopt #iAdoptForTheHolidays

United by Animals is a collective of SPCAs and Humane Societies working together to provide urgent support for animals and communities in the North. This fall, we've headed north to transport animals to be rehomed before the harsh winter weather arrives. You can follow these transports by following us and the Animal North Network's Facebook page here: https://bit.ly/3it938U.
Our next Mobile Wellness stop will be in Peterborough, November 25-26, 2020! Contact Peterborough Humane Society (contact info below) to register your furry friend for accessible spay/neuter services. Note: second photo was taken pre-COVID.
