With uncertainty still circling around the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to provide a brief update on our planning for the upcoming 2021 House League season - and yes, we referred to a seaso...n because like many of you, our we want the kids to play ball this summer... Registration is now open, for families to sign up if your child has an interest in playing baseball. It's important that you register so that we're in the best position to form teams, prepare schedules and get the kids on the field if we're able to play, we also want to assure all families that full refunds will be provided if a house league season cannot happen this year or alternately families may register and opt to pay at a later date (offline) when we have a better understanding of what the season may look like. Markham District Baseball Association would like to ensure that planning for the upcoming season takes a number of things into consideration, including the safety of our players, coaches and families. We are excited about a return to play, but we have to do so with the health and safety of everyone at the forefront of our decisions. Markham District Baseball Association is taking the necessary steps to prepare for the upcoming season, if permitted. We will have policies and procedures in place that will be implemented immediately as we continue to work closely with the City of Markham and review/update the course of action as the pandemic plays out. At the same time, we will continue to prepare our rosters and engage with our coaches so that we can be ready to provide a good experience on the field. In closing these are trying times, but we remain optimistic that the kids want to play baseball and families want to see them on the field. We thank you for your continued patience as we work towards this season and keep everyone safe this summer! See more
Great Job Ryder!

Happy Canada Day to all of the MDBA families
First and foremost, the MDBA:hopes that everyone is staying at home, healthy and safe. We understand this has been one of the most unusual and difficult times we have all had to deal with. Our community's health and safety remains paramount. It is with sadness that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Season for House League, Select and Rep. At a meeting of the MDBA Executive on June 25, 2020, the MDBA Executive made the decision to cancel all off-field and on-field ba...seball activities, including practices, games, tournaments and team events, until further notice. There are a number of health, safety, logistical and operational challenges that prevent us from providing a meaningful 2020 seson. This decision was not taken lightly and took many weeks of deliberation and discussion. An email with more details regarding registration fees for the 2020 season will be sent to all registered players in the next few days. We have been a pillar within the Markham community for almost 30 years and have provided many players with the opportunity to gain life skills through the game of baseball. Our programs have even been the training ground to future MLB players for many years. The decision to cancel the 2020 season was difficult and we were all hopeful and optimistic that a season could be completed in a safe and timely manner. We hope to continue that tradition with your assistance as we all navigate through this difficult time. We look forward to working with our baseball community to rally around an exciting 2021 season for all players, coaches, parents and umpires. MDBA Executive
Happy Father’s Day! Hope you all have a great day!Happy Father’s Day! Hope you all have a great day!
Please note this friendly reminder that no teams are to be practicing under any circumstances.
STATEMENT FROM MDBA Without question, we are in the midst of an extraordinary time in our history. The murder and death of George Floyd has sparked monumental protests across the world calling for the end to systemic racism. As a community based sports organization, we support the end to all forms of racism, social injustice and violence in any form. We are stronger as one community, regardless of race.... We believe all people should be treated with respect and dignity, and we look forward to helping the community not only heal, but unite in the drive to end rasicm in all facets of our society.
Just a reminder that even though the City has opened diamonds for individuals it is not for teams to practice and Baseball Ontario has still suspended all activities therefore there is no insuranceJust a reminder that even though the City has opened diamonds for individuals it is not for teams to practice and Baseball Ontario has still suspended all activities therefore there is no insurance

First and foremost, the safety of our coaches, players, umpires and all of our Markham District Baseball Association membership is paramount. With this in mind, the MDBA Executive has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and in light of recent events, the Executive has decided to suspend all baseball activities, including winter practices in school gymnasiums and private indoor baseball facilities, until further notice. We will be following the guidance of local public health officials, the Public Health Agency of Canada to resume baseball activities when it is safe to do so.
Markham District Baseball Association would like to congratulate some Markham Alums in achieving great baseball and academic success! At 13U this group of boys competed nationally, playing in Quebec, playing the best of the best in Canada. So, it is no surprise to hear of all that they have accomplished. Ben Sitarenios, Justin Murray and Sukbir Parmar have all committed to continuing their baseball and academic career at Salem University, West Virginia. Gauthman Ramesh has co...mmitted to Rochester Institute of Technology to pursue his academic and baseball career. Tyler Chong had the opportunity to play for the Ontario Youth Team in 2019 in Saskatchewan, coming home with a silver medal. He has now committed to playing for the reigning NCBC National Champs Durham Lords to continue his academic and baseball career. Brando Leroux will be joining the Canadian Junior National Team this year and will be playing in the Dominican this summer. Good luck to all of you! See more
