His produce is amazing. People are growing beautiful produce at home...From coast to coast, Kim Barlow to Rachelle VanZanten..I bet Alex Cuba secretly has carrots growing in his back yard ! It's a movement..Let's take care of each other. .oh ya, new record is coming along nicely...and thanks to Elija Quinn Larsen for a volume boost on this clip. Facebook dropped this "new Look" on me and I got so confused I just stopped posting for a bit. Darn I hate when they do that. Putin must have said time for a change..

REDEFINING TELKWA - (good luck). Walk or bike along River street in Telkwa to Eddy park and it's Beautiful..sorry Telkwa, but it's the truth. BUT Telkwa has a reputation to uphold..when I went to school they called their own floor hockey team "the Telkwa Bums". "Harry's Steakhouse" (with an "Orange Crush" sign out side,) "Used to be a Rocker" are soooo..Telkwa. You can have a smokey open pit fire by the roadside, rev up your car with no muffler...but you wake up the next day and you will still be beautiful ! Ha - live with it Telkwa. Laughing about this terrible identity crisis, riding my bike and watching kayakers go by, I headed up the hill, homeward. 3 LOUD 4x4's drove by, the last one had a bumper sticker Painted on - "TELKWA F'IN PRIDE" ! The struggle continues..

I often think of my Dad - not just today..that's him with our son Matthew many years ago. The green jacket is my Mothers Dad's - wrapped around Dad's shirt - stylish combo eh ! Dad used to talk about guaranteed annual income and many things that are now becoming real..of course I never listened... I know I am very lucky to have had great role models in my life..

It was almost time to drag fiddler/violinist, Kiri Daust with me to do our Skeena river trip and stay at Cassiar cannery site. Cancelled of course, but hopefully next year. After reading "Gumboot Girls", "Island"and "Klee Wyck", I am just in love with the coasts..East and West. Our son's fiancé, Anne, said Canadian women are crazier..they work hard and do outdoor things, they are so invol...ved in everything.. I added + beautiful too ! Will have songs and stories, new and old - to bring to places- soonish. Looking forward to it...Recording and writing songs now. If you feel the urge, please tell me a "drive all night in the summer under Northern skies" story. That song is 30 years old .! Whaat ??? go for a bike ride eh ! That means you too Rachelle Van Zanten ! No slacking..ha

Hey - a glimpse of my "Super Studio" on Old Babine lk rd... Huge and complex eh ! The learning curve is still on but good things are happening. Currently we have a new music video in the works and it's starting to come together ! I recorded here - shipped to Jordy in Whitehorse, he sends to Tobin in Victoria - back to Jordy, then a Mark T. input and we will be close to complete. BOUNCING all over Western Canada eh ! Working towards a new album (what are they ??) this Fall. R...elease date will be determined when we know we can tour it. There is HOPE !!! I got up at 5 a.m. - couldn't sleep and thought, why not? Went out and worked on a new song and it felt pretty darn good ...woohoo ! - Feeling a little coastal with cool and grey lately but better than terror in our forests. I promise to do some chores before a much needed bike ride this morning...Happy June !

Attempted a snowy Blue Lakes trail hike last week and gave up.. heading home, we took a left at Witset, taking the "Highroad home". We passed a house in Witset flying 4 Canadian flags and the name of a victim from the Nova Scotia nightmare. Felt Canadian unity. I put my"Northern Waters" cd in and a minute later, Jane said,"We just drove over Gramaphone Creek !" . That song was playing. Playing the song "Highroad Home", we drove by Rosie's old mill site, the remain's of Billy ...Wedge's old haunted house, stopped at "Lover's Leap", stood near the edge and felt knees shake. Drove by the Glenwood hall.. all of these places are in the song. Sure it wasn't"worldly" but I felt connected to a place. "Northern Waters" actually has some decent songs on it. When I listen to my records, sometimes I struggle with self loathing, doubt, why didn't I redo, hating a line , a feel...BUT sometimes - I feel good about it. Went in and took a photo of the empty Hall...so many crazy fun times here...looking forward to more....! We may be making another Covid inspired video soon..stay tuned !!! See more

Doug Kershaw's 1978 version of "Marie", from his 'the Louisiana Man' LP, is in my opinion, Beautiful. Randy Newman wrote it. I'm sure Randy never heard Doug's voice singing it in his head, as he was writing it . Sometimes magic happens . So..How about a list of great versions of songs by unusual people that surprised you, not the writer...

BIG QUESTIONS - Shane MacGowan ( the Pogues)- is he a better singer or songwriter ? With the late Kirsty MacColl, is Fairytale of New York the greatest duet of all time ? (it's already the greatest Christmas song ever!) Kenny and Dolly ? Marvin and Dianna ? Not even close, and...He can also make another person's song his own. He lives "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" when he sings it..sooo good !! Many Pogues songs on my phone. Listening to them while pedaling down a dirt road on my bike..4x4 flies by and dusts me, use my t shirt as a mask to keep some of the dust out of lungs..it's May and I'm listening to a Christmas song and loving it. strange eh

Hey -here's a new song, "Canada" I read a really moving letter from a Nova Scotia RCMP officer - about his drive home that fateful night in Nova Scotia. Somehow I felt linked, coast to coast. At 5 a.m. the next morning, I got up with the lyrics, melody and guitar part for this song, racing around in my head.. So, what did you expect for 5 a.m.?
