When its -30 these beautiful owls seem to be most active. Not really great for the guy holding the camera and waiting in the snow, however, this male snowy owl made for some great photos. Being almost pure white he looks so majestic even against the snow.

The Blue Iguana is one of the rarest Iguanas in the world. A few years ago I had the opportunity to photograph them in Grand Cayman and found them to be quite amicable to humans as long as you gave them space. They grow to about 5' in length including the tail. I read a fair bit about the body language of the Blue Iguana before I went to ensure I didn't frighten or disturb them in order to get a photo. Obviously I wanted a ground level photo of this creature so I felt safe la...ying on my stomach in front of them as you see here. It is different for an Iguana than it is for a Grizzly or a Wolf as they take that low crouching position as a threat. What I didn't expect was that this Iguana mistook my body language as a gesture of affection. He started flicking and twitching his tail which is a sign, according to the Blue Iguana handbook of mating rituals, that I would be a good mate. Although this was flattering, I figured it was time for me to disregard his amorous intentions and get on my way. See more
