Life changing events happen to all of us at any given time and for many different reasons. For me, two of the most significant life altering events occurred on March 25th, 2017. The first was when I had the privilege of being involved with one of Saskatoon’s largest industrial property sales to-date. The story made headlines when Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems decided to downsize from their 21.66 acre site consisting of over 208,000 square feet. The decision spurred hundred...s of layoffs to Saskatoon workers and was devastating news to Saskatoon's economy and community for obvious reasons. However, within a few short months, and on the eve of March 25th news broke that a local Saskatchewan company, Brandt, saw the opportunity at hand and would be purchasing the full facility. (The photo on the right is when I held the open house tour of the facility weeks earlier). This was not only a professional and career highlight for me, but it was relieving to know that jobs would be brought back to Saskatoon and through a Saskatchewan based company nonetheless. What the picture does not show, is the other life altering event of that day I learnt that I was going to be a mom. It’s been two years since I first found out I was pregnant and WOW has my life changed since then. In the last 2 years, I have had several ups and downs as any new parent does. I have cried tears of joy and tears of heartache as I try to balance motherhood, a career and life. Two years ago, I wanted to believe that I could still be the same person, but reflecting on who I was then to who I am now, that is the furthest from the truth. You may see the same woman here, but let me tell you that the woman on the left, the me now, is stronger, fiercer, motivated, more determined, more patient and extremely grateful both personally and professionally. I have a smart, caring, vivacious and beautiful daughter whom I love more than words can express and for that I will always hold March 25th dear to my heart.
