Today we processed our replacement heifers. Hopefully we can get them in their pasture soon. They were branded, vaccinated, ivomeced, and given new tags. We had a great set of helpers and got it done before the corrals got too sloppy.
Mid calving day clean/bake day. Finally slowed down enough (thank God for this beautiful weather) that I got to bake bread and buns. While they were rising and baking I tackled cleaning up the house! Some days there's not enough arsenal in the swiffer, you got to pull out the old mop and bucket! A bunch of "spring blossom" pine sol and my house no longer smells like a barn. Even sent the kids out to do chores while I cleaned.
Some updates on our triplets.DOTTIE, SPOTTIE AND LOTTIE. We pulled Dottie & Spottie off the cow the next day. They all took turns nursing mama all night but unfortunately she just didn't have enough milk supply. We were bottle feeding 2 of the girls until this morning when we found a dead older calf. We adopted Dottie onto that mama and they are bonding well. We are still feeding the Spottie for now. Lottie and their mama are doing really well too! We also had our 4th set of twins yesterday.
Here they are! Our identical triplet heifers! They are about 65 lbs each and very similarly sized. Mama is excellent, we helped her by feeding some colostrum to the girls. Although they were sucking a bit! The kids and I watched Benjamin and Alan pull them it was very exciting!

This is my mornings lately. My early bird likes to be up before 6 most days, I do not, nor does the rest of the house. We hang out and watch cows calve.
Some of the faces of Marquisview Farms. I had a lot of fun taking pictures this morning!
Fresh bedding days are the best, the heifers seen to agree!
