Hello Marr Mac family! Due to the current pause in group fitness mandated by the Alberta government, we will be holding all of our classes on Zoom for the next two weeks! Although we are confident in our safety measures and know that we went above and beyond the government expectations when it came to studio protocols, we are cooperating and doing everything we can to slow this spread. Marr Mac’s videographer of almost 20 years, Rob Zittlau, and his wife Grace passed away over the Thanksgiving weekend in a very unfortunate car accident. Rob was always such a pleasure to work with and produced great quality work for every single one of our year end shows. We are so lucky that we had the privilege of working with a pillar in the Edmonton sports and dance community. Our hearts are with the Zittlau’s friends and family. With very heavy hearts and many tears, we say goodbye to Deane Marr. Mrs. Marr, the founder of Marr Mac, the ballet teacher most of us had, the reason the Marr Mac philosophy is what it is.. to encourage the love of dance... Deane’s struggle with ALS ended today as she passed away peacefully. She was a strong woman who faced many obstacles in her life, yet her smile was constant and warming. We would like to think Deane will be forever watching us from the wings, as sh...e always has We love you, and will always miss you. This next dance is for you.

We’re doing it again! Join us tomorrow, Tuesday, at 12pm for another Instagram live workout! This is aimed at level 3 and up but all are welcome to join and modify as needed! You will need runners, a water bottle, a yoga mat (optional), a small towel (optional), and a chair or other slightly elevated surface about knee height. See you there!

Triple Threat 2019! We are so thankful for this weekend of learning and dancing in Calgary!

Looking for some extra exercise during the week? Want to learn something new? We are now offering a 6 week highland dance program for adults! The class runs Thursday nights from 9-9:45pm and there is no experience required! Come give it a try this Thursday! A 6 class pass is $90 + GST.

Did you know we have a non-competitive contemporary class on Tuesday nights at 8:15? This class is for experienced contemporary dancers age 14 and up who love to move and groove! Come try it out! Send us an email if you have questions or want to take a trial class!

Do you have a little jazzer who's interested in performing on stage in dance festivals? We want to introduce you to our new jazz program for dancers ages 6-8, which focuses on the introduction to a fun and encouraging dance festival atmosphere! Our goal with this program is to provide a chance for them to satisfy their curiosity in an atmosphere where the emphasis is on fun and performance. We are running a class on Thursdays from 5-6:30pm with Bridget called "Festival Jazz 6...-8 Years" where dancers can focus on building jazz technique, while preparing to showcase their routine in April at 3 local dance festivals. There are no pre-requisites for this class, nor do dancers have to take any other classes in conjunction with it. Beginners are welcome too! Send us an email with any questions! [email protected]

It is with a VERY heavy heart that I say my farewell to you as an instructor Cathy and Marie - Thank You for the last couple of years!!! Although we go WAY back (seriously - WAY back), the last couple years were some of my most memorable!!! It has been an amazing adventure that is a difficult ...one to leave... wishing you both and your families the very best!!! Keep doing what you do and may your studio dreams be fulfilled!!! AND - you haven’t gotten rid of me quite yet Special shout out to Deane Marr (sorry I missed you this evening )!!! If it weren’t for YOU - none of this would have been possible To my many dancers (current and past) - Thank You for your dedication and hard work!!! You’ve all made me proud and honoured to have had the opportunity to work with you throughout your dance careers!!! Keep your heads high, your eyes bright, and your energy radiant!!!
