Martech Group is working from home. Tip of the day: when do you require a Designated Substance / Asbestos Survey .. According to Ontario Regulation 278/05: If one is "Repairing, altering or demolishing all or part of any building in which asbestos is or was used in the manufacture of products, unless the asbestos was cleaned up and removed before March 16, 1986."... Does that mean building built after 1986 is asbestos free ? No .. some asbestos containing materials were still used in building well into the 90's. Example: Transite piping (usually concrete and used for storm drainage). When in doubt, call a consultant. But please remember, it is the responsibility of the owner or employer to ensure full compliance with O.Reg 278/05. Many use the famous "there is no asbestos in here", but unless you have a proper DSS done which includes room by room inventory of designated substances (not just asbestos), you really would not know. Have a safe and healthy day.
