Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) is not something that we ever thought we'd need to talk about. Canada's introduction to this virus came last year when some cases were discovered in BC. Last week there were cases confirmed in Lethbridge. RHDV has a high infection rate and a high mortality rate and while Lethbridge is still quite a ways away, it's time to start thinking about ways to limit the risk to your bunnies, should this virus jump over into our province. Please check out the following link for more detailed information about the virus and ways you can reduce the risk. https://rabbit.org/rhdv/
As soon as tick season comes around, so does Lyme disease. In Saskatchewan, Lyme disease is typically a discussion, not a diagnosis. Why is that? Because Lyme disease, which is caused by the Borrelia bacterium, is transmitted through the bite of the black-legged tick and the western black-legged tick (the bad guys). Neither of these two ticks call Saskatchewan their home but they do take up residence in other provinces.

This x-ray is an excellent example of how radiographs aren't just for bones. Look at those ears! That nose! You can even see some fur! <3 Seriously adorable!
