Update from the Martindale Animal Hospital Team: As was announced at the beginning of this week, the Ontario Provincial Government has mandated that the province be placed under grey zone lockdown. For northern Ontario, this will begin to take effect on Saturday December 26, 2020 at 12:01am and remain in place until at least Saturday January 11, 2021. The mandate stated: Veterinary practices are considered essential workplaces and may remain open. Veterinary practices may o...nly provide services that either: are necessary for the immediate health and welfare of the animal, OR are provided through curbside pick-up and drop-off of the animal. The province has NOT imposed an urgent care only restriction on veterinary practices during this shutdown. Veterinary practices can still offer a full range of services, as long as the client does not enter the practice. However if a veterinarian, in their professional judgment, deems the visit to be necessary for the immediate health and welfare of the animal, an owner may be allowed to accompany the pet. Examples may include euthanasia or examining/treating a sick or injured animal. What does that mean for you and your pet? Regularly scheduled appointments, surgeries and procedures will still occur but on a curbside basis. You will still be asked to check-in by telephone at 705-522-9399 or by knocking on our door. When we are ready, one of our team members will collect your pet for the examination or to admit for surgery. Pet food and pre-authorized medications may still be obtained but by curbside pickup. We ask that you call in advance and pay over the phone by credit card. Please note that delays in shipping and stock may occur during this time so limits may be placed on amounts permitted to be purchased at one time. Please be patient with our team through the lockdown. We will try to keep appointments flowing as smoothly as possible, but delays may occur. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you do not feel comfortable with having your pet’s appointment through a curbside method, you can call and we would be glad to reschedule for a date after January 11, 2021. An Update to Our Martindale Family, Moments after the announcement was made Thursday of the Stage 1 reopening by the Ontario Government, our phones went haywire! Its nice to see that we have been missed and we missed you too! Our team is happy that we are going to be able resume elective surgeries and annual vaccines again as of May 19th, 2020 for our wonderful clients. That being said, it is not business as usual so we are highlighting a few notes below: Priority will b...e given to reschedule those who had their appointments cancelled due to COVID-19. We will work over the next week on rescheduling cancelled appointments first. DO NOT ENTER THE BUILDING! Check-in with one of our team members by phone or knock on the front door and we will direct you as to instructions to follow. Signs are placed on all the windows with the clinic phone number for your convenience. Surgical drop-offs are being staggered for set times in order to alleviate congestion. We will call the day before to go through pre-surgical instructions and set a specific time for drop off. Signatures on consent forms for procedures are not required at this time but instead verbal authorization will be permitted. Pre-approved prescriptions and food can still be dispensed but we ask that you take advantage of curbside pick-up by pre-paying with Visa or Mastercard over the phone. This the most efficient way to fill your pets medications, including annual Flea/Tick/Heartworm preventatives. Limits on the amount of product being dispensed is still in effect. Our team members may inquire about your own health, not just your pets health. This risk assessment is designed to help determine what measures need to be taken for protection of our team and the broader population that we are in contact with as well. Please, be patient! The increase in the number of phone calls, inquiries and changes in procedures may mean longer wait times. We are trying our best to stay on schedule, but things can change on a minute by minute basis! Our goal, as stated previously, is to provide the optimal outcomes for the animals, owners, and veterinary team while supporting social distancing efforts, keeping everyone safe. Update for Our Martindale Family: We are Open! The Provincial government released the list of essential services last night that will be allowed to remain open during the shut down over the next few weeks. Veterinary Services were listed as an essential workplace #71.
