The Titleist Performance Institute is a division of Titleist that works exclusively with both pro and amateur golfers globally to help them reach the top of their game. They also train physiotherapists from all over the world in the assessment and treatment techniques used by TPI when they work with their world-class golfers. WHO IS TPI GOLF PHYSIO FOR? TPI golf physiotherapy sessions are for golfers of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to seasoned veterans. Physiotherapy is an essential part of our lives. - To assess and diagnose pain and conditions - To treat an injury or illness - To help manage chronic conditions - To prevent injury or re-injury... Physiotherapy can also help improve and optimize your athletic performance. Are you looking to see a physiotherapist for the first time to treat your pain or injury, or to help improve your mobility and function, improve your athletic performance, or improve your strength and prevent injuries? Are you wondering whether a doctors referral is needed or not? The short answer is No. Read more below... The province of Ontario considers registered physiotherapists as primary access practitioners. This means that you do not need a doctor’s referral to use physiotherapy services. Because a doctor’s referral isn’t needed, you can make an appointment directly with us, as you see fit. If your health insurance provider covers physiotherapy, in some cases, they may require that a doctor refer you to a physiotherapist in order to provide reimbursement. If you are in need of long-term physiotherapy, it may be covered by OHIP and for that you will need a doctor’s referral. Every person should have access to the care they need. The recent pandemic has had an effect on us all. Nothing is more important to physiotherapists than keeping you safe while providing quality care. At Martindale Physiotherapy & Sports Clinic, we’re here for you when you need us. It is a common misconception that sprains and strains are interchangeable terms. In reality, there are some key differences between the two. In order to understand how they differ, it is important to first understand what ligaments and tendons are. Ligaments connect bones to bones within a joint, while tendons connect bones to muscles. When you experience a sprain, you are tearing or overstretching a ligament. Conversely, when you experience a strain, you are tearing or o...verstretching a tendon. Sprains commonly occur in the ankle (by rolling your ankle) or in your knee (by planting your foot and twisting/pivoting or having a force applied to your knee). While strains (a "pulled muscle") can occur during running, jumping, kicking, throwing and commonly occur in the hamstrings, quadriceps, and calf. The neck, shoulder and lower back are also common areas for pain that have affected almost everyone at some stage in their life. Physiotherapy is an effective method for treating sprains and strains, for all age levels, and for all athletic abilities. No matter how you incurred your injury, your dedicated physiotherapist can play a major role in your comeback. Your physiotherapist will use a mix of passive and active treatments to reduce pain, improve strength, and increase coordination. Treatments may include massage, ice and heat therapies, electrical stimulation, or ultrasound, as well as targeted stretches and exercises, and balance and proprioceptive work. If you have recently sustained a sprain or strain, or you believe you may have, don’t hesitate to to consult with a physiotherapist. They'll determine the best course of treatment for your needs and get you started on the road to recovery! #martindalephysio #physiotherapy #physiotherapist #physio #manualtherapy #treatment #rehab #rehabiliation #stretches #stretching #exercises #exercise #exercising #balance #injury #sportinjury #ACL #strains #sprains #stayfit #stayhealthy #health #healthy #healthandwellness #healthylife #healthylifestyle #stcatharines #niagara

Every action counts! On #bellletstalkday, we are joining in on the conversation today to help end the stigma around mental illness. Now, more than ever, every single action counts. Be kind to one another, you are not alone! Here are 5 simple ways to help end the stigma that keeps too many who struggle with mental illness from seeking the help they need: Language matters: the words you use can make all the difference.... Educate yourself: knowing the facts and myths about mental illness can be a great way to help end the stigma. Be kind: simple acts of kindness can help open up the conversation and let someone know you are there for them. Listen and ask: being a good listener and asking how you can help can be the first step in recovery. Talk about it: mental illness touches us all in some way directly or through a friend, family member or colleague. Most people with mental health issues can and do recover, just by talking about it. Taking care of yourself is important to helping you cope with stress. Simple ways to take care of yourself include: Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting, so take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. When you do listen, choose credible sources of information. Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, and avoid alcohol and drugs. Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling and let those close to you, especially children, share their concerns and accept support. Maintain as normal a routine as possible, including engaging in activities you enjoy. Focus your energies on what you can control rather than worrying about what you can’t. You can come up with a new hobby, talk to a friend or exercise but you cannot control when a vaccine will become available or when we will go back to business as usual. Helping to end the stigma around mental illness can help people seek the help they need and create positive change. Let’s make a difference together! #bellletstalk
