Tara Rout outdid herself again with another spectacular non-spooky Halloween theme for the kids, and the ex-kids! We had plenty of lovely neighbours come to vis...it the Hundred Acre Wood and try their luck at pin-the-tail-on-Eeyore. As well as delicious treats they earned themselves home-made bath bombs in the shape of honeycombs. Rabbit, Piglet, Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Christopher Robin were all there. The kids and I had an epic 2 hr Trek round the neighborhood and came back with enough candy to last us well into next year. Lovely to have some old friends pay us a visit. I'm so grateful to everyone who bought tickets to my BIG SHOW at the Jubilee for Nov 27th. Due to the ongoing restrictions, and for everyone's safety, this show is POSTPONED until Friday Sept 17, 2021. Your original tix will be valid for this new date. Honestly, I had no idea if we could sell this show out even before COVID hit. It was a bit of a crazy dream. The fact that 2500 of you bought tickets in the middle of a pandemic just blows me away. Your support is incredible.... We all still need something to look forward to. I'm still so excited for this show, we'll just have to wait a little longer now. Maybe we'll even add a 2nd night! I've been so inspired by you this year. Every street I sang on this year gave me memories to last a lifetime. I saw babies and great-grandparents, newcomers and old-timers, people of all ages and backgrounds enjoying music together, reaching out to their neighbours and supporting each other in every way possible. It's never fun to postpone a big celebration, but the main thing is that we all keep doing whatever we can to stay healthy and keep each other going, one day at a time. Last night's house-warming street concert was so beautiful. A hundred neighbours of all ages out enjoying the beautiful fall colours, some good company and liv...e music. I'm so lucky to get to do this for a living. Thank you to Sandra and Michelle for making this happen - such a lovely way to celebrate your new home with the neighbourhood! Lets do it again next year! For me this felt like the perfect way to round off the most incredible summer. What a privilege it's been to bring music to people face to face when they've needed it most. Thank you to Anthony Lovesey for making all this happen, to Heritage Valley Mercedes Benz for so generously sponsoring me with a free car for the summer. And most of all thank you to every neighbour who has hosted me on their street. Its been so much fun!

It is such a relief to have had it recovered. You can now move forward knowing this is a safe space again.

Wow, I wasn't expecting this! Stay Home Street Concerts is now powered by Mercedes-Benz Heritage Valley. They are providing us with this beautiful new GLC for the whole summer to support our Street Tour. Such a lovely bunch of people! Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my manager Anthony in getting this street-tour concept off the ground. We both feel so fortunate to be able to bring music to the community and to make a living in these trying times. I've always been more of a 'rusty old banger' kinda guy, but I can't lie, it'll be pretty nice to get to drive this beauty to work every day :) See you on the street!

These Stay-home street concerts are so much fun! Who wants to book one for June?

Wondering how a street-concert works? Read these FAQ's. Q. Who is this guy playing all these street concerts? A. Martin Kerr is a professional musician who has performed at Rogers Place with Sarah McLachlan, The Winspear Centre 3 times, toured the world and has had an album in the Canadian Top 10.... Q: Why is he doing this? A: Due to COVID-19 Martin had his entire summer tour cancelled - so instead he's bringing music to neighbourhoods across the city, one block at a time! Q. Is there a cost? A. Yes. We ask for a starting donation of $200 - $500 to confirm a booking, plus tips from the neighbours on the day. The initial donation can vary based on location, layout of the street, and expected community engagement. In normal times to book Martin for any event costs a minimum of $1000, so you're getting a great deal! Q. What does Martin need from me on the day of the show? A. One extension cord running to the end of your driveway/front yard, 15 mins before the show. We will provide everything else. Q. Do you have a flyer that I can give to my neighbours to tell them about the concert? A. We sure do! We can provide an e-flyer and/or printed postcards. Please inform everyone on your block. Q: How long is the show? A: Roughly 45 mins. This is one full set. It seems to be a comfortable time for everyone to enjoy while being outside. Q. Can I invite my friends and family from nearby streets to watch the concert? A. We don't encourage this. The concert is intended for you to enjoy from your own home. If you choose to invite guests to your property, we ask that you please follow the social distancing guidelines provided by Alberta Health. Q. We don’t want to ask the neighbours to tip, but would Martin come and perform for our anniversary/birthday/grad? A. Yes! This will be considered a private booking so different rates apply. Contact us directly to agree a fee that works. Q: How loud is the concert? A: Loud enough for everyone on your block to enjoy it, but not loud enough for anyone else to be bothered by it.
