I love this man, yep that’s all! Well, maybe I will elaborate a tad Over the past 6 months I have been struggling with a bad back injury, and without going into many details, this season of life has thrown many unexpected surprises & obstacles at us that presented some challenges. BUT! It is incredible how the Lord uses what we may see as bad for his purposes, and for our good, if we trust Him. Who knew that loosing the ability to sit on my tooshie, or do normal day to da...y activities would cause such a ruckus! However, even in the midst of feeling restricted from normality, I’ve had the opportunity to deepen my relationship with Jesus and with my other main man, Paul With my injury, we try to keep things simple and get creative in our marriage and with our time together. One of my favourite things to do right now is a good ole walk around our neighbourhood. Wanna know why? Because I get to hold hands, laugh, and talk with Paul about anything and everything (podcasts, books, dreams, fears, or whatever else is on our mind). We have been learning the importance of intentionality, something that can be overlooked in the normal busyness of life. But now that I’m forced to slow down, I see very clearly the importance of continued pursuit of intimacy and deeper connection. I feel the Lord has been teaching me that building character and endurance takes trust, hard work, and perseverance, but the reward is great. Even though this wasn’t the plan we had for our lives during this time, we love the story that’s being written, and that we get to add to it each day. I’m glad that I’m on this journey with my hubby Paul Martin, a man of peace & joy. I honour him for his gift to bring such a calmness to my sometimes stormy world. For his ability to help shift my perspective through a simple kiss on the forehead, or a prayer of life-giving truth over me. Ohhh gosh, I know this may sound cheesy, but I am just so googlyyy eyed and in love with this man! I am happy I get to write my love story with him!

Filming Jourdan and Andrew’s wedding meant an awful lot. Jourdan’s influence in my life has been huge, as a mentor and a friend. So to film their big day, it almost felt like everything had come full circle! And boy oh boy what an amazing day it was! Where do I begin, the incredible flower arrangements, the arbour, the intimacy of a tiny wedding on a generational family property, a ceremony in the woods. The attention to detail, her beautiful dress, the vows....DANG THEY WERE... SOME VOWS!!! And of course, we can’t forget the spectacular cliff side views. The Show Must Go On! While trying to heal up the ole back, I can’t get in the office for a good editing session, so I brought the office to me. Thanks to this handy-dandy contraption that Paul found for me, I’m now able to start digging in so I can finish up our wedding edits! Thank you to all my wonderful clients who have been so patient and understanding throughout this whole process! No I am not injury free, BUT I am now able to play catch up and start blowing up your feeds with my gorgeous couples and their beautiful wedding films!

It’s been a tough month and a half. The short version of the story is that I’m on bed rest, while trying to recover from a pretty severe back injury. This change initially brought on a wave of emotion. The fear of our business slipping after having to extend deadlines, the frustration of not being able to exercise, an annoyance at the fact that my independence just vanished, and a general sadness that I would just be missing out on a lot. All of this to go along with copious ...amounts of pain. And while some negativity from these struggles can still slip in on the day-to-day, I’ve been absolutely uplifted by the support and love given from family and friends, just through sacrificing their time for me. From family popping over with home cooked meals, to tea and bed side card games(if you’ve never played wizards, I’ll gladly teach you). Along with friends coming over to pray for healing over my body, and miniature book clubs with the best friend a gal could ask for (love ya Frances Burton). It has been amazing. And the fruit from great conversations along the way has been tremendously encouraging. And of course I can’t forget Paul. Man, he’s just awesome. I probably tell him I love him at least 20 times a day (and ohhhhh do I ever mean it, every single time!). He constantly shows himself to be the loving, selfless, caring, serving man he vowed himself to be. But the best thing he does for me is give me his TIME. His focused attention. He presence. Even if that sometimes just means laying next to me not saying a word, holding my hand as we listen to a podcast or watch reruns of friends for the trillionth time! Through giving up their TIME, these awesome people have helped me to find a sense of peace through the process. To understand that my whole life isn’t going to tank, just from taking a step back for a short time. I’m incredibly grateful for that. The best use of life is love. The best expression of love is time. This island never ceasing to amaze me!! It’s sheer natural beauty always leaves me in awe. We had the opportunity see it from a new vantage point, as we hopped on our first ever helicopter ride with Breton Air, for an adventure to chimney corner beach for a spectacular elopement styled shoot. Amy MacLeod Wilk put SOOO much work into planning the whole thing, and she definitely went above and beyond! Her creativity and attention to detail made this one unforgettable experience...! It's a natural reaction when offended or wronged in some way to defend ourselves, but a lot of times it shows itself by pointing the finger. Learning to see it in ourselves and not let pride dictate our response, has been huge!! . What’s your best piece of advice for newly married couples? . Go to bed together as much as possible. We have a little thing we call a double, which we have done every single night since we have been married! We fall asleep scratching each others backs at the same time. It has lead to so many great conversations, resolved conflict, and of course helps keep thing intimate Oh and it solves the problem of us both wanting a scratch at the same time and not getting the sucky 2nd back scratch, lol What trait do you admire most in your spouse? Charisse: His determination! Very few things will get to this guy. I am the complete opposite. I hit a teeny bump - I’m done. Not Josh. He will keep going no matter what. It is so, SO easy to get caught up in the difficulties of the world right now. Financial burden, uncertainty, loneliness, or a wide range of other things. BUT, we can still choose joy, and hope, and thankfulness. Ultimately, we could lose everything, and there would still be room for gratitude! I’m thankful, that while yes, I’m stuck inside, with a business that may tank this year, I’m stuck with the man I love most. That we get to spend a ton of extra ti...me together. That we are able to read, and play musical instruments (I got a banjo ), enjoy the outdoors together, and that we were able to set up a home gym in our barn! Oh my oh my! Les and Terri Carabin. Perhaps one of the cutest couples you’ll ever meet. Having been married for 43 years, they are incredibly wise, and are always willing to share that wisdom. They love SO well. They are hospitable beyond belief. And you’ll never feel more comforted then while embracing in a world renown Les Carabin hug. Something they said they had to learn to overcome in their marriage was to put each other first before ourselves and to learn forgiveness.... Which is why their advice for couples is to never let the sun go down on your anger. Meaning always try work through your issues before going to bed! Don’t bring resentment, anger, or bitterness with you into your sleep. Seek forgiveness and love and softened hearts! When we asked what they most admire about their spouse, Les said he admires Terri’s honest naivety (we love that about Terri too!), and Terri admires Les’s kindness. Meet Brittany and Tim MacLeod ! Hmmmm, how would I describe them? I would say they are go getters who love to dive deep! Dive deep into what you ask? Well, to anything they put their hands to. It could be a project or a conversation. They are purpose driven, and will NEVER sit on their hands or twiddle their thumbs. For us personally, this has resulted in a whole whack of encouragement from these guys(both for our business and for life in general), as well a true desire to se...e us succeed! They just genuinely care! Fun Facts: We were married on a beautiful piece of land in South Bar, and we’re coming up on our 10th anniversary this July. Our biggest wedding regret was not hiring a professional videographer. We really didn’t understand the value of video back then! Our biggest advice for newly married couples: Find other couples who you trust and look up to, that you can be honest with. If you're doing pre-marriage counselling, don't stop after you've getting married. For us, some of our most effective conversations and moments of growth have been when we included mentors. One thing we were glad we did during the engagement season, was the decision for a short engagement. We were engaged for 6 months, which was perfect for us! Long enough to actually be able to plan without too much stress, but short enough that we didn't have too much time to overthink or overspend. If your reason for a long engagement is to afford your dream wedding, just beware, it can certainly add unnecessary stress to your relationship! Being engaged for a shorter period allowed us to navigate the challenge of working with a budget and prioritizing things that mattered most. Thats some good ole fashion words of wisdom right there! Oh man, the world is freaking scary right now! I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. I tend to catch every illness under the sun, so we are really hunkering down to try to ride this thing out. And I also worry about all those that literally aren’t able to self isolate, as their work brings them to the front line of this virus. They are the true heroes! At the same time, there is still plenty of space for optimism in the world. People are coming together. Working on projec...ts that have been on the back burner for so long, learning new skills or activities, spending quality time with their families, getting groceries for those that can’t, and so much more! So, while the uncertainty can be fearful, the stillness is fruitful. We’ve been using this time, to tackle spring cleaning, read new books, work on our video skills and getting outside for more adventure! This can also be a great time to strengthen your marriage!
