Marvellous Cakes

Today is a beautiful day! I woke up and enjoyed a gorgeous walk around my neighbourhood, got some amazing goodies from the Community Farm Store, had a salad for lunch, and now I'm indulging in a slice of cake, because why not! What have you done to treat yourself today?

Do quality ingredients make a difference? They sure do! Here at Marvellous Cakes we use organic fruit, eggs and local milk in our confections and love to support local farms. We believe in using the finest ingredients to create confections that are full of flavour, never too sweet, perfectly balanced, and refined to the palate. We are working on new seasonal flavour profiles that truly honours each ingredient and can't wait to share the new menu soon! Do you have local farms you love to support? Hello, I'm Sarah. The owner and cake artist here at Marvellous Cakes. I realized that I haven't actually introduced myself in the 4 years we have been in business so here it goes. . . 2012 changed my life...it seems like yesterday and I can't believe it was almost 10 years ago! I started working for a new organization and little did I know it but I had met my husband. In 2013, we fell in love, I moved from Vancouver to the Island and quit my career to stay at home and car...e for my new family. Instantly my life was changed! I have two amazing boys, one who loves shoes more than I do and is getting his undergrad in accounting and the other one with autism and surprises me each day with what he accomplishes. I started baking for the boys, experimenting with new flavour profiles and took it a step further one year and made my eldest a Nike shoe cake for his birthday. I immediately fell in love with the world of confectionary art and knew I found my true passion. I continued to practice my skills on more than willing friends and family until Marvellous Cakes was officially founded in 2017. When I'm not baking or caring for my family you can find me practicing yoga, getting my sweat on, drinking coffee or endulging in wine, going for strolls, dabbling in food photography, and I've started daily meditation this past year and swear by it. Ohh and I love watching the Food Network and HGTV and doing renos around the house! Well if you made it this far, thank you so much for taking an interest in me, my family and Marvellous Cakes. After another cold morning, I'm dreaming of warm summer days filled with the scent of flowers in bloom! These beautiful cupcakes are taking me back!

Even though we are closed, I couldn't say no to this cake in July! Our amazing neighbours requested a wedding cake for their daughter this summer. Even with everything going on, they still stuck to their wedding date and had a beautiful intimate wedding! This semi naked beauty was a vanilla cake with strawberry compote filling, one of our signature flavours! Stay tuned for more updates, Marvellous Cakes is going to be re-opening soon!!

Marvellous Cakes is temporarily closed. Due to family health concerns and caring for my aging in-laws, I've had to temporarily close Marvellous Cakes. I want to thank all of my amazing clients and vendors for the support. I couldn't have achieved what I did without you!! I loved baking cakes and treats for all of your memorable moments, it was such an honour for me to be a part of all the special memories!... I hope that in due time, I will be able to take orders again and get back in my kitchen! I'll keep you posted!
