MBE is very proud to participate in the ‘Valentine’s For Vets’ campaign to recognize the sacrifices that veterans made for our country. We are excited to report that we made almost 300 hand-crafted valentines that will be distributed to Veterans in Edson and across Canada. #valentinesforvets!
Today, Mrs. Semotiuk’s Kindergarten students practiced identifying shapes with a fun Groundhog Day activity. They were presented with a groundhog shadow, determined which shape its body was and then coloured it in on their worksheet. Amazing job, Kindergarten!

In Music, our K-3 students have been creating dragon masks and learning traditional drum and cymbal patterns to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Today, Ms. Prince began touring her classes through the hallways in a dragon dance to wake the dragons for the Lunar New Year. In Chinese culture, dragons are a symbol that is believed to bring good luck. Kung Hei Fat Choy!
Mrs. Johnston’s Kindergarten students are becoming experts with their first names, so now they’ve turned their focus to their last names. They counted out the correct number of snowballs needed to construct a snowman tall enough to hold all of the letters of their last name. Excellent work, Kindergarten!

After a month of learning about ‘Winter’, Mr. Leis’ Kindergarten students were very excited to transform themselves into some cute little penguins. Check out these awesome penguin headbands they made!
This week, Mr. Leis’ Kindergarten students worked on improving their fine motor skills with some cutting and by Q-tip painting some beautiful designs on their mittens. The pinch grip required to hold the Q-tip in place to paint is ideal for building the smaller muscles in the hand. Excellent work, Kindergarten!
A couple of beautiful mermaids were spotted swimming down the blue wing hallway, this afternoon! Love your costumes!
In Music, Ms. Prince has been teaching her Grade 4 and Grade 5 students a simple melody instrument the recorder. Here’s a short video of Mr. Hyatt’sGrade 4 students performing the traditional French song, Au Claire De La Lune. Awesome job, Grade 4!
This week, Mr. Murray has been introducing all of his classes a new sport that’s very popular in Edson...pickleball. Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis. The students are improving their hand-eye coordination while learning some fun new skills!

Today, some of our staff and students wore a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health. ‘Hats On For Mental Health’ day is acknowledged to help people understand mental health and remove the stigma associated with mental illnesses.
