A message from our Governing Board Chair, Mr. Ross: Invitation and Year-End Message from the Marymount Academy Governing Board Dear fellow Marymount Academy parents,... The last several months have been challenging for our entire community. While the school remains closed, our teaching team and administrative staff have had to make a challenging pivot to online instruction. There are always improvements to make, but in the last several weeks we’ve seen a huge step forward in keeping our children engaged and learning from home. It’s remarkable progress in difficult circumstances. Thank you to our incredibly dedicated teaching and administrative staff for the incredible work they have done! But even in the COVID-19 context, some regular business must continue. As such, we are calling a Marymount Academy Governing Board meeting to finalize certain important documents in anticipation of the 2020-2021 school year. This is a public meeting - like all Governing Board meetings - and it will be held virtually to give you a better opportunity to join us. You are therefore cordially invited to a public Marymount Academy Governing Board meeting (see details below). As a member of the wider Marymount Academy community, you are welcome to join this meeting and ask questions of the Governing Board during the Public Question Period at the beginning of the meeting. In fact, we encourage you to do so. The meeting agenda is attached to this message. In closing, I would like to offer my thanks for your patience and your diligence in these unprecedented times on behalf of the entire Governing Board. We have all been working hard to navigate some difficult circumstances that few of us had ever considered before. It has been hard, but we’ll all get through it as a community. As you surely know, the MEES and the EMSB have both been providing online academic resources for students and parents to engage with during this time of school closure. If you have not yet seen these resources, we encourage you to take a few minutes to read and explore them. As of today, Marymount students can log on to our Schoology page to get these activities, along with weekly activities provided by the MEES. Students will need to create an account, which should be quick and simple (drop down "Sign Up" menu on the upper right corner of the main page), and then input the appropriate code to be able to access material for their grade level.
