Maskwa Legacy Drumming Project 30.05.2021

Lisa, whose traditional name is Ahasiw Iskwew or Crow Woman, is pure magic and whatever she comes across brightens, blossoms and grows in her presence. Owner of... Fort McMurray Métis Trading Post where she helps coordinate the bartering and trading of natural products and goods, she is also a long-time employee at Métis Urban Housing and the New Dawn Metis Women’s Society Representative for Region 1. Never backing down from her natural ability to lead, just recently, Lisa even became the President for the Nistawoyou Friendship Center! She has been recognized numerous times for her community involvement, having won both an Esquao Award and a Regional Aboriginal Recognition Award. Lisa is also an incredible powerhouse and never hesitates to stand up for those whose voices have been silenced. She sees a bright path when she looks at Indigenous youth and strives to instil cultural pride in them through volunteering in the school system because she feels that First Nations, Inuit and Métis youth need to know their culture and engage with it, as it holds many positive tools for future success. Her compassion to help others never wavers, and with education in Early Childhood Development, Personal Support Work and Community Addictions Training, her approach is warm, gentle and spirit-centered. Lisa’s motto? We all need love and support to survive, and we all belong, so be kind. The world will become a better place. She is a #leader. #EndViolenceWithRespect #SheIs #Métis

*As of tonight March 24, 2021 @ 6:30 pm. The camp is still at the same location (on Zikkis property). The homeless peoples have been served supper at the camp s...ite. Will update at noon tomorrow.* *A News station is working on a story for this issue!!! Thank you for your prayers, and continued support of sharing, it’s truly is caring!!* *Update the land owner Zikki, has informed the peace officers to enforce action of eviction tomorrow morning Wednesday March 24, 2021* Please send prayers for these human beings. The county feels they are enabling the homeless people to live, and want them out, as per council meeting today. This is how the homeless people live in Lac La Biche, Alberta, Canada. They are being forced by law to move. I spoke to Sergeant Chris Clark / Peace Officer today. He stated that it is the law to serve the homeless people with notices to evacuate the premises, if the land owner (Zikki) does not want to be responsible for any injuries or damages to the property. The only option for them to have a safe place is on a piece of land that the legal land owners will take responsibility if anything happens to the people or the land. The county thinks the people need to go home to their families?! Hello?! broken down systems, severed family ties, addiction, mental health issues, lack of support systems and resources in the community. There are so many issues, but mostly these lives are not valued as human beings. This is their home, they belong here, this is the homeless peoples ancestral territory. They belong just like everyone else, and deserve just as much opportunities as the rest of the community. This literally breaks my heart. More love & kindness please!
