Things may have looked different this morning, but what hasn't changed is our excitement to see all your smiling faces (we can tell you're smiling even under those masks), our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our students, and our commitment to Profound Learning. While we know this year will require us all to be a little bit more flexible as we make adjustments, we also believe that this year holds an incredible amount of potential. So here's to the 2020-21 school year! We can't wait to see what's in store.

While our graduation celebration isn't going to look quite like we had originally planned, we are thankful that we will still be able to celebrate the accomplishments of this incredible group of students this afternoon and cheer them on as they take the next step into their futures. CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2020! You did it!

The COVID-19 crisis will subside at some point and we will emerge into a different world. How will we position ourselves for this next season of our lives?

"The rise of artificial intelligence is creating a serious rift between skills that are valuable and relevant and skills that simply aren’t. What we’re seeing is the hard skills are becoming soft and the soft skills are becoming hard."

A few of our Academy Concert Choir students were keen to take on a virtual choir experiment! New to us all, and a huge learning curve, this group of students learned I Believe by Nikki Yanofsky remotely! A choir rehearsal on Google Meet is an experience in itself. Thank you to Ms. Peters for leading the students in this project, to Mr. Mitchell who did an incredible job of providing instruction, as well as editing and combining all the voices together, and to the talented students who shared their beautiful voices with us. Enjoy!

This time last year, the grade nines participated in RiverWatch, a study of river health and habitats. They may not be able to raft with 16 of their friends right now, but socially distant bike rides along the river could allow them to experience some of the same things. Grade nines - can you remember anything from our TOXIC unit that you could look for that demonstrates a healthy river ecosystem?

"We sit and read the news and wonder where this whole thing is going. What will happen to my job? What will happen to our city? Will things ever get back to normal? Meantime some big changes are quietly being implemented...We are in the throes of a major geo-political and socio-economic shift that has been coming for a number of years."

It is clear that something special is happening at Master’s. Student engagement is high, teachers are actively engaged in learning and the culture of leadership development is thriving. Even as we were forced to transition to an online learning situation, we saw student after student step up to help with creating our new online community.

All the learning is a continuation from what was taught in the classroom prior to quarantine, there is a very clear direction and focus, and, most importantlysigh of reliefyou are not the teacher. Your role is to simply support the learning."
