Update from London.. Teklay Kassa, Elsa’s cousin in London, has been steadfastly working with many Ethiopian church groups throughout the capital. During November and December he managed to register another 70 new donors - and he hasn’t finished yet! A huge thank you to all the churches leaders who have been so open and friendly in welcoming Teklay into their churches and to the congregations who have registered to help a fellow Ethiopian.... London Holy Trinity Ethiopian Orthodox Church. Big thanks to all the sebeca gubae members (the leadership group) especially Rev. Kefyalew, Brother Birhane and Brother Aynalem. Thanks also to the congregation of the Emanuel Ethiopian Evangelical church, North London and their wonderful leader Mrs Yeshi. Amazing work Teklay!

Fantastic news - Elsa is now reunited with her sister and brother! Miky and Gally arrived safely in Vancouver at the weekend and will now be able to help and support the family. They are here on student visas and will be starting at Langara college this month. Thanks to everyone who supported the petition to bring the family together and for the stellar work of Vancouver lawyer Fritz Gaerdes. You really helped to turn it around. Sometimes amazing things happen! Here are some photos of their arrival in chilly Toronto and happily reunited with Elsa in their new home in Vancouver.

Fabulous news from London, UK: Big thanks to Teklay Kassa in London who has been visiting many churches around London organizing donor drives. The latest drive took place at St Gabriel Ethiopian Orthodox Church and gained 21 new donors. Thank you to Father Gebregiorgis, the priest at St Gabriel, who welcomed Teklay to his church for the donor drive. Teklay has been fortunate to be introduced to Veronica Karawa, a wonderful Kenyan woman who will be helping him regularly on Sundays at churches across London. Veronica lost her son Kevin to Leukemia and set up a charity in his name - the Kevin Kararwa Leukaemia Trust (KKL) Trust. Big thanks to Veronica for helping us in London and thanks to DKMS UK for the introduction. Together we can expand the registry and help so many more people. https://www.facebook.com/KKLTrust/?fref=mentions

We've just reached 1,000 new donors! Thank you so much to everyone who has swabbed their cheeks to join the worldwide registry in Elsa's name. (We've actually reached 1,011 so far - and counting. When we started the campaign less than 5 months ago, we didn't dream that we would get this far. We won't know for a few weeks whether any of the new people are a match for Elsa but here's hoping. Even if you are not a match for Elsa you may save another person's life. ... Words cannot express our appreciation to everyone who has registered and all who have volunteered their time to make this happen. Huge thanks to Anthony Nolan, Bethematch.org, Canadian Blood Services, DKMS UK, DKMS US, The ACLT (African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust) and @admo for your help sharing Elsa's story and organizing donor drives. You guys are truly amazing! We could not have done this without Jessica Pålsson, Len-nard Yambot, Tori Fairhurst, Sharon Alstad, Amanda Holk, Lisa Nugent Dkms, Jeana Moore, Becca Garber, Trudi Goels, Sarah Jasmins, Sue Clarke, David Oppenheimer PAC, Ermias Aytenfisu, Jon Ware, Robyn Henwood, Jenna Knutson, Chris Van Doorn, Nadia Stewart Global BC, Mychaylo Prystupa, Patrick Dell The Globe and Mail, Amy Reid Surrey Now-Leader Newspaper, Cory Correia CBC News, Paige Gross The Seattle Times, Helen Show .. and so many more..
