Some new girly fabrics.
There are a lot of new guidelines from the Government of Canada on non-medial face masks. They now recommend a homemade mask to be: - made of at least 3 layers 2 layers should be tightly woven material fabric, such as cotton or linen... the third (middle) layer should be a filter-type fabric, such as non-woven polypropylene fabric ALL of the masks I have ever made have a small slot at the bottom so that you can slip a filter between the two layers. On Amazon and other places you can purchase all kinds of filters to use or there are many great at home options: -HEPA vacuum bags have been seen to be nearly as effective as a N95 mask, but you must check they don't have fibreglass in them as some do, they are also not as breathable as other options. -Blue shop towels have been tested as being extremely good filters and very affordable. -Two layers of tissues, changed after every use, also very affordable. -Two layers of paper towels, very affordable. -Coffee filters, but they do affect the breathability. I have personally tried the blue shop towels and the PM2.5 charcoal filters and they both fit well and work well. This is just some info I have found through my research, there has been a lot of testing on filters and there is a lot of great info out there now. Stay safe everyone!
Here is some kids fabric I still have, I'm posting in the hopes that schools will be going back and maybe people will need more masks. Lol fingers crossed. I can now make masks with very comfortable flat nose wires and adjustable earloops. I also still have supplies for lanyards with detachable beads and letters if you want a name on it.
Mandalorian and Baby Grogu masks, I have! Super comfy and $10 each, are they!
Well its official. I've now made the most comfortable mask. I just got the most absolutely perfect nose wires and adjustable earloops and can say it's a game changer. They are so comfy now! If I can only find a way to stop your face from sweating. Lol
So on to the next venture! I will be producing these awesome indoor rock climbing walls for anyone interested. With covid numbers rising and everyone being stuck home it seems to perfect time to give people the same opportunity for fun that we have in our house. They come in 4 foot x 8 foot panels with hand grips and you can combine as many as you want. We have three in our basement. They will be custom cut to fit your space and you can customize any addons you want. PM me for more details! :)
I took a little hiatus away from sewing for the first few weeks of school but I’m back and ready to start sewing. I’m sure at this point someone’s lost a mask or two Mine did. Lol I have some kids masks ready to go if you need some ASAP or you can choose from the available fabric. As usually they are $10 each or three for $25. You can also throw on a lanyard for $5.
So I don't know about the rest of you but it has been only a week and my son's lost two masks already. I thought people may be in need of some kids masks soon. Everything in the pic is sewn and ready to go. If you want to see what the fabric looks like extended (open) I can send you a pic. As always $10 each or 3 for $25. All cotton and all masks come with nose wire and comfy ear elastics.
